As you all start to clean up the ritual materials, you tell everyone what you found out.

"So... the hackers are busted?," Fuse asks. "I sent the info to Jury, but I didn't expect her to jump on it so fast. ...I guess she really was getting fed up with letting us have all the fun."

"Kinda a let down," Caius chuckles.

"Psh, speak for yourself," Michelle replies. "After that mess with Carpenter, I'm cool lettin' Jury have this one. I'm discoverin' new ways to be tired of shit."

Fuse gives a somewhat weary smile. "Right? Like, I know we won, but... damn, today was stressful."

"We won the battle," Dr. Finch states. "The war is... unfortunately still ongoing. Carpenter continues to be a threat, and though Thale's plans have been quashed, he's still very much a factor. ...I'm concerned about what the tradesmen said--that Thale has reached a few bunkers himself. Knowing what manner of things we've acquired in our bunkers..."

Michelle waves a dismissive hand at Dr. Finch. "Finch. No. Worry tomorrow. We did enough worryin' already. We're all worried out."

"We shoulda saved that level," Caius comments.

You ask Fuse about what the Deck wants from him, and if he's going to need any help with it.

"Already done," Fuse says. He shrugs. "It was actually pretty easy, just a couple of government websites they needed in. It's weird, though--that same stuff, like, a year ago would have stumped me. I could have sleep walked through it today. I dunno if it's all the practice, or if the blood's... opened my mind."

Dr. Finch gives a hint of a smile. "You have been working your way through military grade locks and covert programming. A mundane explanation for your surge of skill isn't out of the question. I know that personally, the amount of syncing we've been doing has altered my perspective--I've started to approach ideas from very different angles than I'm accustomed to. That could make doing what you do easier, or at least give you more versatility."

"Plus," Michelle adds, "you dueled a team of elite rival hackers today. You definitely been goin' through the ringer, and there ain't a better trainer than experience."

Fuse smiles, and nods. "Yeah. That's probably it. Oh, and we own Ilworth now."

"Pffft." Michelle throws her hands up. "How were you just gonna leave that part out?"

"There was a great deal of ground to cover," Dr. Finch states. "Amidst everything else, it did feel like something of a side note."

"I sorted through the process of acquiring the town," Elizabeth says. "The owner of the majority of the property was seeking to rid himself of it, so all it took was a discussion with a bank in Southden. Lovers helped fill in the blanks regarding our financial credentials."

"So... yeah," Fuse concludes. "It's a done deal. We can do whatever the hell we want with it."

You spend the rest of the day resting, and trying to relax. Fuse checks up on the Mars group, letting them know that they'll have a place in Ilworth soon. You head outside and play with your cats. Michelle calls Cam to make sure she got out okay. Everyone has ice cream.

Physically and mentally exhausted, you eventually go to bed.

What will you do tomorrow?

Another step towards victory.

With some time freed up, could get to work on refurbishing the Ilworth property. Still need to set up a decent workshop, y'know?
Swagner 26th Apr 2018, 12:03 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, seems like the perfect opportunity to get a jump on freeing up room for project spacecar!
Mochi 25th Apr 2018, 9:28 PM edit delete reply
sleep in! sleep in, then breakfast. then maybe bring everyone to ilworth if the weather's nice, i'm sure the mars folks would like getting to go outside for a bit.

First floor of bunker X.
Twyll 25th Apr 2018, 9:34 PM edit delete reply
I think we should do at least one day of non-combat stuff before tackling something as challenging as Bunker X.
Blue_Elite 25th Apr 2018, 10:27 PM edit delete reply
I could get behind a non-combat day. Caius's hand still needs to heal and Michelle probably wants to get better accustomed to her new arms.

Besides, we've got plenty to do getting Ilworth up and running as a town and we can dedicate a lot more effort to getting Elizabeth fixed up.
GivingTree 25th Apr 2018, 11:42 PM edit delete reply
I can get behind a maintenance day. Just taking a breather and fixing up various things/people.
Heroshima 26th Apr 2018, 4:25 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, it seems like a day of rest and preparation would be better for our crew than heading into a gauntlet sore and possibly overexerted. It's been a while since we had a slow day.

Side-Project: Start moving into ilworth, Mars base is still dangerous, poisonous plants and harsh atmospheres make it a liability, so we should consider making a bunkhouse in Ilworth. Also as someone else suggested, getting a workshop will be a huge plus, having somewhere designated to actually build advanced tech, perform rituals, and heal/upgrade folks will be a huge asset in the fight, also there are legal concerns with being in a bunker because of the fact that we are technically squatters

We have set up a backup location in Ilworth already, but improving on it or setting up more definitely merits some consideration.
Ablaze 26th Apr 2018, 6:42 AM edit delete reply
We should also consider getting an extra printer for Ilworth in case the Mars base becomes inaccessible.

Getting Fed up. Good one.
And WE have a Freakin TOWN now. Do whatever the hell you want, have fun, relax, celebrate. When fully rejuvenated get back to the PIE on the plate mentioned previously.

Upgrade MiniJane! Also see about attempting the gauntlet
Portal In Time 25th Apr 2018, 9:32 PM edit delete reply
Portal In Time
Make a enough golems to make two more mini Janes, then trade all three mini Janes to make, hopefully, a replica of yourself.

Then we can play around in Ilworth, maybe even do a car trading ritual.
Heroshima 26th Apr 2018, 4:28 PM edit delete reply
Having a replica Jane would be kinda unsettling. Since we're always spacing out, that replica golem might confuse everyone else, and they might start talking to it.
Cuttlefish 25th Apr 2018, 9:35 PM edit delete reply
R&R, fill in our allies on what has been going on (sans any mention of magic, for Jury's sake) and once we are on our feet and looking to hone our skills, Bunker X!
Cuttlefish 25th Apr 2018, 9:38 PM edit delete reply
Also, lets make some earnest helpful alterations to Elizabeth's physical structure while we have some free time. Now is as good a time as any that we will have.
Twyll 25th Apr 2018, 9:50 PM edit delete reply
Good idea, we definitely have some time to work with Elizabeth now.
Twyll 25th Apr 2018, 9:39 PM edit delete reply
Don't forget morning meditation! Especially since these rituals seem to be quite taxing, we need to work on our mental endurance.

I agree with starting to move folks to Ilworth, or at least give them a chance to start setting up there. We can also work with Faraday today, see if we can figure out a way to condense her.

With our body-sculpting skills, could we theoretically make her a body with a super-strong nervous system that can stand up to the levels of energy she'd be putting out? Maybe we could make a giant nervous system that spans the bunker and gradually scale it down until it's girl-sized and then, like, create a girl around it?

EDIT: Also, a couple of minor things. We could consider having Fuse go to the Error Room and see if he can learn more about his being more psychic than he thinks from esuF.

We should also make a minor modification to Jane's helmet-- make it so the cat ears can snap off easily, just in case anything manages to grab us by the ears or if we suffer an impact that the ears would interfere with poorly. We can do this while making new bone armor, anyways.
Heroshima 26th Apr 2018, 4:29 PM edit delete reply
I'm not sure if the others can see the error rooms, but it's worth a try.
nicolas arboleya 25th Apr 2018, 9:49 PM edit delete reply
Can we contact the tradesmen and just see what the cost is for them to tell us how to fix Faraday? Also I personally say we should trade up for a better computer later .
pkrankow 25th Apr 2018, 10:29 PM edit delete reply

The Library already told us...sorta.
Reiko Lupus 25th Apr 2018, 9:54 PM edit delete reply
First, replace the Bone Armor of everyone. After that, relax like everyone else is saying XD.
Maybe in the second half of the day we can go to the Bunker X, but First let everyone rest, including the people in mars.
And Let's visit the ghost girls and play with them. I'm sure they'll LOVE the cats XD. And maybe get her cat ears of bone XD.

If new chapter = new duds, I totally vote Caius wear a Blood Is Mine T-Shirt. Other webcomics have self-pimped before.
Also I'd love a sweet lolita outfit for Mini-Jane with pink parasol. Though if we want to go Mini-Jane matches Big-Jane that's fine too.

I'm thinking a high-energy breakfast: oatmeal mixed with nuts and dry fruit or oatcakes from Southden.
Then we can finally personally check out Ilworth and see about getting that local power plant running (going to need that if we want to start a blood-refugee society there).
Fishbulb 25th Apr 2018, 10:04 PM edit delete reply
Contact Lydia and Griz, and fill them in/make sure they're doing ok. See if they have any info on Gargan, Thale, or Carpenter.

Ilworth and tasks for the crew. We need solid housing. See if there is a good building or a good foundation for a house we can start with and go from there. Today has good enough solar I would expect the future has better. Plan on a solar roof to start with.

Discuss with Big Red making a storage space we can portal things into and out of. Bag 'o Holding or magic bra or something.

Jane needs some stock tanks so she and MJ can practice portaling mass in a controlled manner, and converting it at a useful rate. This skill has been needed on several ocassions now.

Spacesuit(s) of bone and membranes. Oxygen system, temperature control, self sealing... armor. Start with one for MJ since we can theoretically portal her out and back to wherever we need. Initial tests will be in an atmosphere, then under water. We can get conventional spacesuits if we must.

Stargazing with the crew.

Shore leave for Mars
Prep for x, but not running it today.

As always, there's lots to do!

Various eggs for breakfast? Omelettes, hard-boiled, over whichever way, etc.
Resupply. Armor, bandages, check weapons
Check on the sisters
The usual check on the Zene and family as well as Pierce.
Work with Liz and Michelle on their various parts. Caius could probably use a good checkup by our Dr. Finch.
Practice making things from red / blood.
Read more Geoangular Control.
Survey Ilworth. Make note of good storage places and places that are a bit more defensible.
Check on all of our animals.
See how Jury, Grizwald and Lydia are doing, maybe even check in on Macland and Gen.

I'm sure there's much more, I saw a lot of good suggestions so far!
Madd 25th Apr 2018, 11:33 PM edit delete reply
Resupply, check on Tesla and Faraday, run some tests on the slime, make some cool shit from the Red, and talk to Red.

Notably we should replace the bone armor and attempt to make something from the list I'm going to say copper based blood.

Would setting the mini-Jane to stare at Fuse while he sleeps be a bad idea?

No, MiniJane scares the crap out of Fuse. He might hurt her or himself in his fright. Let the sleeping dogs lie on that regard.

Also ask Tesla and Faraday about Edison.

Actually, if we think about it, there's a lot of questions we may want to discuss with the group.
Such as:

-how much are we willing to bet that the piece of Laster that the Tradesmen told us was kept elsewhere might actually be the OTHER's Red, much like how Mom's Red was kept safe at a secure location? We can already infer that the OTHER's red was externalized, considering the big mouth frozen in the Juries Bunker, after all.
-What are the odds that bio-paste technology was actually based on our kind's Red? They seem to have an exceeding amount of similarities in the aspects that aren't limited by technology. As such, would it be possible to connect our Red with the bio-printer in the Bunker to improve our printing capabilities as well as the need to constantly fetch more Bio-past?
-Is there any way to secure the Bunkers against Carpenter? It is already confirmed that he has his suspicions that this is where we are hiding, and he has acted without Patton's permission before, like with the Many. Who's to say he may investigate and find us on his own?
-The library has already told us that Fuse has psychic powers beyond what he believes he has. Is there any way to verify just HOW much bigger it really is?
-Where is Carpenter getting the materials for his weapons of destruction? Considering the last machine he threw at us was pretty much a WAR MACHINE, as opposed to a killer lab product, he has to get his the parts from someplace with military-grade weapons to arm his robots. Can we trace his location like that?

There's probably more questions such as these that we probably haven't even thought of yet. It would be good to spend some time thinking about these things, as they might be some pretty big concerns in the long run of things

Southden... start our own city government. Hold an election to "change" the current leadership (as an established town, shouldn't be that hard). It will give a lot of our documents a lot more credence and legitimacy. Set up a local clinic, whip up birth certificates for everyone, blame them not getting to the federal government on "an older employee who passed away who never knew that doing so was part of his duties" (of course not present the excuse until people start having questions, and blame it on 'yet another thing old Frank never got around to.') and we can start moving people from Mars to Southden. Maybe blood up some bones and make a grave marked Frank to add legitimacy.
Guest 26th Apr 2018, 12:58 PM edit delete reply
Carpenter would have to find a way to convince Thale of his suspicions, somehow steal knowledge from him, or find another source of Zone 50 information to track us down, otherwise he'd just be searching blindly and hoping to get lucky.
You make a good point about his resources. Those don't seem like things civilians can get their hands on... unless he's just manufacturing everything himself from raw materials, which would be horribly inefficient.

psychoshen 26th Apr 2018, 3:26 PM edit delete reply
It might be interesting if we can plant something from one of the Z50 bunker boxes on Carpenter and have Thale discover it, such that it reinforces the notion that Carpenter is only after the tech in the bunkers.
Terrac 26th Apr 2018, 4:24 PM edit delete reply
That would be a lot to pull off, and I think Thale doesn't need to have that suspicion reinforced. He already believes it, and doesn't think that he could EVER manage to hide in one of them. Which means Carpenter might try to convince him otherwise. It wouldn't hurt to prepare defenses within the Bunker. Maybe placing more of Mom's Red (or our own, if we can figure how to properly externalize her) by or even in the doors. Even if that doesn't work, making it so that only we can enter the Bunkers would be of a huge benefit it terms of our security.
