Peek inside the machines?
There's no signs of a struggle. Dr. Finch's notes are still sitting atop the laundry machine, exactly where he left them. He wasn't exactly stable, but he'd have to be really crazy to leave the room without a flashlight and a weapon. There's not a lot of places to hide...
