Luckily, the driver left their keys in the car.

Not luckily, the driver is still in the car. You... carefully... shove the body of the driver over into the passenger seat before you climb in. The smoking man starts moving debris out of the way, demonstrating strength far above and beyond what someone of his stature should be capable of. Once the path is clear, you slowly back the car out of the hospital.

The two of you enter the break room, where Michelle is waiting.

"Hey. You doin' okay?," he asks, taking a puff of his cigarette.

"Yeah, I think I'll be alright." Michelle's focus shifts from you, to the man, then back to you.

Slowly, a smirk eases across the man's face. "So, uh... is that her? That the girl?"

Michelle nods, smiling wearily herself. "Yes sir, Mr. Vasquez. This is the uh... rescue target, I guess you'd say."

"Ha ha, perfect. Alive, even!" Vasquez chuckles so hard the cigarette nearly falls from his mouth. "You're a master of your craft, Michelle, I dunno how you do it." He turns his attention to you. "Kiddo... I dunno who you cheesed off, but you cheesed 'em off reeeaaal good. We got offered more money than I've ever seen just to come fetch you outta this here hospital. Dead or alive, doesn't even matter. For that much? Yeah, we're happy to go wadin' into some monster infested hellhole. Traffic was a pain with all the machine's goin' crazy out there, though.

C'mon, Michelle... let's take the girl and get outta here. This place gives me the willies."

Michelle puts a hand firmly on your shoulder. "Sorry I had to lie to you, blondie. I just didn't want you knowin' I was after you before you got me outta this break room."

And then she shoves you out of the way.

Vasquez starts to open his mouth, but Michelle has already pulled the trigger. Her cannon unleashes a huge blastwave--what hits the ground isn't Vasquez anymore, but a pile of gore, shreds of clothing, and a pair of sunglasses.

Michelle heaves a loud sigh. "Oh, also, I'm quitting. This job sucked anyway."

...Wow. Did not expect that. Like... Jeez. A-anyways... We've still got a bio printer to shut down, as well as a Doctor to rescue. So... uh... ok, you know what, fuck it. Give Michelle a smoke, and light it with the jerk's $300 Collector's edition lighter.

Hoo. Whelp it happened.
If I might add as hindsight, if the contract was procured at the time of the systems going haywire, there is a good chance that the reward is completely falsified. As well as the "procurer" would probably kill the mercenaries to "destroy the evidence" kind of thing, even if it wasn't a fake bounty.

Insane bounties are often funded by insane people.

Wish I could've said this way back when this page was first posted… Goodbye, Vasquez. You shall not be missed. At all.

Well damn. That took a turn. And then *another* turn.
