You take a look at the plates next to all the doors, but they don't seem to say anything helpful--just labels for what grade of elementary they are.

You make your way to the back hallway. With great hesitance... you state your intention to switch to door number five.

The door creaks open with no fanfare.

You rush inside. You don't immediately see the head. You glance to the other side of the desk, opposite from the door--nothing. There's no trash can in this room. Beginning to panic, you pull the chair out from the desk, and--

you find Jury's head.

You breathe a sigh of relief.

Edison's voice crackles over the PA again.

"You found it! Looks like I have to let your friend go, then. That was the agreement, wasn't it? Yooouuu play the game, and I won't... kill... her."

You stop, Jury's head clutched between your hands. Edison is wording this a little too deliberately.

"Though, I suppooose that doesn't stop me from doing anything to you..."

The lights in the room flicker rapidly, one of the bulbs audibly bursting. Her upper half begins to crawl out of the chalkboard, her voice no longer piping through the PA but coming directly from her mouth.

"...does it?"

You feel an uncomfortable, tingling numbness--like when your foot falls asleep, except it's all throughout your body. Otherwise, you are capable of moving again.

either try to talk her into a new game or KILL HER WITH FIRE. I favour the second option but it may not work.
rufiangel 17th Nov 2017, 1:06 AM edit delete reply
On one hand I am so unbelievably relieved

On the other hand

RUN, JANE, RUN (as you check in on Fuse maybe?!)

should we call in Michelle and Caius? :'D

EDIT: Also let's give Fuse our patented Jane!Level effect IMMEDIATELY

And... ask Fuse, "Would you rather be on fire, or have her needles in you?"
Akasha 17th Nov 2017, 1:28 AM edit delete reply
Seconding rufi's suggestion about applying the Jane!Level effect to Fuse. Let's get toasty in here. Do mind the head, though. But, failing that... well, regrouping is probably the best option.
Blue_Elite 17th Nov 2017, 1:40 AM edit delete reply
Can we propose a counter-game to save Fuse? We gambled on our life, now let's see if we can gamble with Fuse's.
On that note let's get Michelle and Caius out of there. I'm 99% certain this is completely out of their league as well and if we can save Fuse and collect Jury, we don't need to do anything else.

I don't have any immediate idea for a counter-game but it'll have to be something where if we win Edison won't feel "cheated" and just kill us anyway.

EDIT: Just off the top of my head and with the limited supplies available to us, I'm thinking, ironically enough, Hangman as it'd fit the Wheel of Fortune game show she's so fond of.
We'd have to pick a word she'd know (otherwise it might count as cheating) but still something hard to guess.

EDIT #2: If we do go with a game, and do go with Hangman, I think the word should be "Wheezy". It's common enough that Edison should know it, has a number of like-words ("breezy", "cheesy", "sneezy", etc.) and the "w" and "z" are VERY unlikely to be guessed.

This is the spirit. Explain that doing anything to anyone will mean playtime's over. Surely she wants to play a bit more.
We've got plenty of time just for her.

Hide and seek could work too, with Fuse as 'it' for round #1.
Blue_Elite 17th Nov 2017, 4:15 PM edit delete reply
I considered Hide and Seek but she has literally been monitoring us this whole time AND can phase through solid matter. It'd be a very, very short game unfortunately. :\

I also considered Rock, Paper, Scissors but that has a random factor that we can in no way control.

I don't know how Musical Chairs or Duck, Duck, Goose would work and those might seem like "baby games" to Edison who appears to be about as tall as Jane (if she's being called a child, I'm guessing she's between 12 and 16 years old).

Yes, what Blue_Elite said! Ask for a counter-game, it's only fair! Still go for the Level effect, though, just in case we need to get things a little toasty.
Auron 17th Nov 2017, 3:34 AM edit delete reply
I'm guessing we don't have any practical way to blood the child murderer?

Guessing we have no practical way to blood the child murderer? Maybe we could try to convince the kid it doesn't have to do what people say, ideally we'd convince the murderer to take out the our biggest enemy, or Carpenter. Carpenter can go eat a dictator.

Tell her that’s not very sporting of her. Chances are she’s too sociopathic to care about little things like other people’s enjoyment of her games, but it’s worth a shot.
Swagner 17th Nov 2017, 9:50 AM edit delete reply
It's "drug up Fuse and burn down the building" o-clock.
Ninjas (and electro-ghost children) can't catch you when you're on fire.
Mochi 17th Nov 2017, 9:54 AM edit delete reply

fucking jesus christ okay. maybe don't set her on fire right away. jane, propose a counter game. if she wins, she gets to kill us, but if she loses, we all leave and we take jury with us. SPECIFICALLY THAT. we all leave and we all take jury.
sarah 17th Nov 2017, 9:58 AM edit delete reply
/ALL OF JURY/, mind, and we get to leave as in LEAVE PERMANENTLY
Mochi 17th Nov 2017, 10:36 AM edit delete reply
yes, and she's not allowed to impede or attack us in any way once we win.
Twyll 17th Nov 2017, 11:42 AM edit delete reply
Now that Jane is no longer stunlocked, we need to get in touch with Finch immediately and see if he has any ideas regarding what to do to neutralize an electric mutant child. (Which is, incidentally, the name of my new electro swing band.) While he's thinking about that, we can propose the counter-game.

Suggested Fuse response
"Actually, yes it does. Because she was a donor in a medical procedure to me, meaning part of her is in me. You kill me, you've killed part of her, and you've broken the rules. I should also note that she's a nurse, and has been vital at keeping our team of people alive, and at minimum all members of our team have received a blood transfusion as she's a broad spectrum donor type; you can ask, she even has some of her own blood handy in case she needs to do a blood transfusion, so now all of us are off-limits for killing.

Now, that said, by YOUR rules, we are all off-limits to killing. You, however, are not off-limits to killing by US. So this time, how about WE play a game. You see, we're pretty sure we could kill you.

You bring us all of Jury's pieces within the time limit, and you win, and we don't kill you. You fail to bring us all of Jury's pieces, and we get to do what we want with you."

And for emphasis, Fuse should light up a ring of fire around him. Maybe see if the connection with his own red will let him externalize a skull or something like that and set it on fire for a flaming skull effect.

Two can play at the monster game. Although the main thing that will probably happen to Miss Scary girl if we win is Jane will insist she be friends from now on and hug her. That said, no reason we have to tell her that right now.

Also, if she responds "Nuh Uh" to us killing her, tell her we've got guesses on what she is, and we can kill every one of them.

"For example, if you're an AI, you're generating a lot of traceable noise, we could finish identifying your noises source then it's orbital bombardment time. Or hack time. Or just disconnecting power time (inductive coils can be blocked, by the way)."

"Another guess is a psychic manifestation. As she can already see, we have connections to people with psy abilities, including full on telepaths on the team." (This one's a bluff, but could be mimiced by using the blood to communicate messages) "Our tele can hunt down the person projecting you, again, you're emitting a lot of very useful traceable noise."

"Third guess is you're a special type of electromagnetic psy yourself, and we already know your weakness in that case. Rather than covering ourselves in tinfoil, we simply cover you, then you're trapped and at our mercy."

"As for our next guess ... well, that's confidential. If you're one of the earlier guesses, we don't want you to know about that one."
Mochi 17th Nov 2017, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
dude, fuse doesn't have a red. what he has is his own version of Red who appears when he's talking to himself, because he's subconsciously internalized the idea that that's just what happens now.

I believe we cannot threaten Edison in any way whatsoever. She can literally just dive INTO the floor and scramble our brain like she was doing originally (the hats didn't work except Edison found them so funny she stopped trying to kill us and made us play a game for our lives instead).
Crestlinger 17th Nov 2017, 12:07 PM edit delete reply
Still wondering what would happen if she had a tinfoil hat slammed on her head. Extras Were made after all.
PurpleKetchup 17th Nov 2017, 2:23 PM edit delete reply
She can only get the cute foil hat if she wins a game of TF2.
Cuttlefish 17th Nov 2017, 4:24 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, is maybe metal a weakness of hers? Because she was captured in a metal container when I assume she'd have preferred to be out playing murder games.
Blue_Elite 17th Nov 2017, 4:30 PM edit delete reply
She might giggle. The hats didn't actually work (check out the static we experience with Edison up-close-and-personal in the scene below this update). Edison just decided it'd be more fun to play a game with death as a motivator than to kill us directly.
Cuttlefish 17th Nov 2017, 4:40 PM edit delete reply
True. Still, based on the wheel tracks we found outside the building in the first place, it's likely the canister was wheeled in, with the murder-kid inside. Presumably, the kid could not get out. Is there something special about the canister we can quickly analyse with our eyeball? Some sort of counter-electrical signal or special look to the metal?
Swagner 17th Nov 2017, 5:08 PM edit delete reply
Didn't they? The static only came back when she grabbed Blondie, and even then Fuse was unaffected. I suspect that if we're shielded, she needs physical contact for it to work.
Blue_Elite 17th Nov 2017, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
I'm using narrative to cheat a little on this one but based on what Dr. Finch said: "Dr. Finch blinks slowly and deliberately. 'You... what?' He rubs at his temples, considering it for a second. 'It... it it it's not unheard of. Depending on the structure of a cell phone, for example, wrapping one in aluminum foil can block incoming signals. I just... you... you're not a cell phone, and I doubt the interference is being performed via radio signal. I'm having a great deal of trouble taking this at face value.'"
I'm assuming that we THOUGHT the hats worked but in reality, the silliness made Edison change her mind about killing us outright and instead play a game with us.
Even IF the hats worked, Edison can travel through solid matter. Unless we've Learned to Fly (granted we have a stuffed penguin), there's pretty much no way for us to escape being grabbed.
Cuttlefish 17th Nov 2017, 5:55 PM edit delete reply
If a penguin can learn to fly, we can survive an encounter with the needle child!
