You ask your red... how does she know there's other aliens running around?

You ask quietly, because you don't want to look like a crazy person. Fuse is the only one to react to Red appearing--he flinches, staring briefly, but then goes back to working.

"Because you know, silly." Red gives half of a shrug. "Zone Fifty canceled their mind control project when the bio printed blood reacted to the real Mars blood inside Lasker. They were afraid if they distributed the bio printed blood, it might react to non-human blood somewhere in the populace, and they'd randomly get another Lasker case or worse. Why would they be afraid of that? Why would they think there were other aliens on Earth? They had to have evidence of something, somewhere on Earth, besides the stuff they found on Mars. No idea what or where, though... but they wouldn't have stopped if they didn't think there was a possibility."

You ask Dr. Finch and Caius if they could help you check Michelle's truck for tracking devices. It might take some time, but... well, you have some time.

The three of you step outside and begin searching all the places you think a tracker would be hidden, or for any signs that the truck has been tampered with (to hide something inside it).

While you're searching, you inform Dr. Finch that some of his work was salvaged and is still at his lab, but most of it was destroyed. You offer to cleantex him later, if he wants to reproduce his work.

"I appreciate that," he says. "We should wait until we're more settled down, of course--I don't want us to be hauling around boxes of paperwork. I do wonder what all that government bunker has already, provision-wise--they may have left some things behind when they abandoned it. It would be nice to get a leg up on resources... we're not in a good spot to go furniture shopping, as is."

You also ask him about extending human life, and stopping the break down of a tube cop's body.

"Hm," he says, stopping to think for a moment. "Hm hm hm... that... it's plausible, given the level of control you've exhibited over the body's individual functions. Genetically engineered individuals like Michelle and Caius begin dying off more rapidly for a wide variety of reasons, mostly related to the way their bodies are structured. The natural evolution toward longevity is... discarded, so to speak, as a side effect of artificially increasing their physical prowess. The process of loading their brains with fabricated memories and experiences does damage as well, I believe--the human brain is meant to grow over a period of time into that state, not be accelerated to adulthood and pumped full of pre-assembled knowledge.

For you to grant immortality to a normal human is incredibly plausible--great strides have been made by conventional science in that regard, and you should be more than capable of filling in the blanks. For humans designed in a laboratory, though... we may need to do more research into what all goes wrong. The list of things that will inevitably fall apart is much longer than that of a 'natural born' individual, but... but it shouldn't be impossible, not for you.

I'll start looking into it. The thought's a bit frightening--that you could prevent natural death as we know it--but all age truly is in the first place is things going wrong. If we can figure out what all those things are and prevent them, well... it sounds simple enough."

You also ask Caius about Macland's house. He tells you Macland's address, and you send a raven toward it. You're not sure where the reporter is--if they're still in Macland's house, or if they've made it out--but you're sort of curious what's going on at Macland's home anyway.

You also take a quick glance at Macland Row himself. There are still guards at the door, but Knox himself does not appear to be around anymore.

After a very thorough, exhaustive search of the truck, the three of you are pretty confident that nothing's been touched. You head back into the motel, where Fuse presents a very hand built looking card... thing.

"You swipe this, it should trick the lock into thinking you did the card, fingerprint, and code. If it totally works, I can make one for everybody."

You also use your computer to check the news. There was a series of minor riots in the last few days, with stores getting looted and fires being started in the lower-middle tiers... but today has been relatively quiet. Prophet dying may have slowed down the cult's progress.

It is currently sometime in the late afternoon, approaching the evening. You now have a potential way into the mysterious government bunker.

Your raven arrives at Macland's house.

There's three different cars parked outside, all of which look quite expensive. You can't see inside the house very well, though.

birb should keep watch at macland's house. since we don't have any other pressing matters, we should set an alarm for whenever it sees someone arrive or leave.

also, we... might as well go try fuse's card thing. i have complete confidence in his abilities. jury said that no one alive now should know about the bunker, so i don't know what could happen if it registers an unauthorized access attempt. though, with that many authentications, it's bound to have some wiggle room on attempts, i'd imagine. we can ask michelle for sure, but... i trust fuse to know what he's doing. we should take michelle and caius with us, armed, and leave finch and fuse here, with the address and one of the vehicles. if we can get in, and it's safe, they can come meet us.

Actually I second that blood alarm and quiet watch rather than actively snooping in, that makes total sense. -v-)/

Seems like a good plan to me...

I... did not think we were going to have that conversation right in front of Caius XD;;;; well, uh, at least now he knows? I suppose there's the chance he already knew, though. And at least now he also knows we're looking into extending his life, and Michelle's, and it's totally possible, so... don't worry brother bear, we gotchu. (I hope he doesn't mind having his chemistry spoken about so candidly and bluntly :'D though... probably not, given the things he says to Michelle XD he's pretty secure there I suppose lol)

Fuse can still see Red, so I guess even if we haven't synced in a day or so, it doesn't reverse or alleviate the effects of 'over-syncing'. Or maybe it will eventually, given some more time? At least now we know it'll take longer than a short break to 'un-sync', if that's even possible.

I really hope there'll be some cool things in that bunker. I'm super excited. Waaaah XD

I feel like... uhm... might be important to snoop around a wee bit around Mac's house with our birb fren but we'd have to be veeery careful not to be seen. Maybe ask Caius for a bit of help on where things are, so we we can sneakily sneak. Objective is just to figure out what's happening in the house, kindasorta. I guess infiltration is off the cards though (at least right now) if we have 3 scarily expensive cars parked in the driveway.

Otherwise... I have stated the problem of 2 beds and 5 people before, right? XD; So if we're not going to book another room for the night... might as well go ahead to the bunker and try out the very 'hand built looking card... thing' asap. Gosh I hope the card thing works XD

Yeah, I'm all for puttin' the newly-developed card to the test. Mind, I think we should have Caius use it, just in case there happens to be something waiting on the other side so he can either promptly get out of the way or suplex it into the trash so we don't have to worry about Finch getting dropkicked into the Earth's core or Fuse becoming extra-crispy bacon or whatever.

Soo... When exactly did Red do this "Multi-folding" into nothing experiment? And what did she try this on to realize the results?
Mochi 28th Sep 2017, 9:04 PM edit delete reply
Red has proven to have innate knowledge of most things that red-bearing aliens are capable of. she's been the source of much of our knowledge on our more alien abilities, such as regenerating, whereas science, observation, and trial and error have been the sources of some of our more non-traditional (at least by red-bearing standards) abilities, such as mimicking the effects of drugs on the brain.

I'm going to pretend Red has an entire Lab in there. I can envision her experimenting with the boundaries of science, out of boredom, which she then tells to us later.

i wonder... do you think we could set like, a sort of reaction thing, so that a person with out blood would automatically attempt an action if a specific stimulus happened? this might use up our blood alarm, but i feel like it could give us an advantage later if we figure it out.

Reminded of that triple key in Metal Gear.
Prep before entering, and agree on a safeword if separated. Remember the last person to know about this place was robotic so there may be traps and things designed to discourage human exploration.
