You try to crawl across the pipe as fast as you can.

You cry out as the giant rat's claws rake down your already burnt, scarred up back, the monster trying to drag you back toward it. Once you're almost out of its reach, it swallows its own fear and begins to crawl across the pipe after you, digging its claws into the metal for support.

You stumble to your feet, filling yourself with painkiller to try and numb your reopened wounds. You rush through the only door available to find a crowd of the roach creatures.

Most of them flee, climbing between the bars and into the nearby drainage pipe and disappearing into the dark. One of them--slightly off color--stays behind.

The rat king begins to squeeze through the door. The one remaining roach thing steps ahead of you... and lights the rat king on fire. With its mind.

The enormous beast screeches out with the voices of a dozen rats, flailing as it scrambles to pull itself back out. It rips itself from the doorway, burning as it flees back the way it came, nearly falling off the slick pipe bridge in its panic.

Oh my Lord, it's Fuse. I... still want to hug him XD;;; THE POOR GUY!!! Thank you for saving us :'D I mean, that's mega cool and stuff but... but... oh geez, Macland's mind is really doing some crazy stuff here. I hate Macland so bad.

Uh, talk to Fuse? If... if he can still talk. Is that his jacket and visor on the ground I see? And a broken-down computer? What's that red thing that's not a jacket? ._.

EDIT: Assuming Fuse can talk, or at least communicate through the computer if it comes down to that, I think the important things to discuss are: a) could we conceivably get out of the sewers through a different exit from the one we came in through, and b) how is he feeling, because he said he was getting nosebleeds; I'm assuming that was because he was transforming into a roach-thing but I could be off on that. And c) we need to tell Fuse about the memetic defense that's stopping us from getting through. Does he have any bright ideas how to get past a logic hole? Hackers have good sense of logic errors, right? XD;

Also, I really do think he needs a hug, or something of the like. I mean, yes, I know he's a roach-thing that's gross, but that's exactly why. If only because he probably feels like total crap (not just in form) thanks to Macland thinking he's lower tier filth, and therefore equivalent to a roach. Fuse himself also believes he has less value as a lower tier citizen, and though he is bitter about it, has also internalised that outlook if his outburst when he chose to take the cop bodies to dump them back in chapter two is any indication. This kind of crap happening does NOT HELP THAT. I'd like to go against the grain of Macland's brain and show that we don't give two craps about what he thinks. Fuse is incredible and couldn't be swapped for even a bajillion Maclands. Hmph.

Seconded. Talk to Fuse. Ask him what he knows about the other creatures, and have him fill us in as we work to "save" Macland and get out of his head.

You know, for a rat king, he looks remarkably unlike a bunch of rats with tangled up tails.
