You tell everyone what's going on... and you make the decision, for now, to leave. If you rush into Dr. Finch's home, you risk infecting yourself or the rest of the party. If you stick around, you risk dealing with whatever team the federal agent is bringing in.

You leave the one raven around, fairly well hidden, to keep tabs on events in your absence. You do what you can for Dr. Finch, telling his body to watch, specifically, for any further intrusion of airborne streptococcus. If it doesn't get a chance to take a foothold, you think his immune system should be able to combat it.

And... you leave. Fuse and Michelle switch seats so Michelle is driving.

The car ride is completely silent for the first few blocks.

"What are we going to do?," Fuse finally asks, quietly.

Michelle responds. "We're gonna let the feds take care of Dr. Finch... and then we're gonna rescue him."

There's an uncomfortable silence.

"What if they don't?," Fuse asks. "We don't know what they're about right now. Are they gonna treat him, or are they just gonna do some kind of sick exp--"

"They're gonna save him," Michelle cuts him off. "They will. They have to."

You continue to ride for a little while longer.

"Where we goin'?," Caius asks. "Like, that was our HQ, right? Where we gonna go 'til tha feds do their thing?"

He looks at Michelle, who just stares at the road. "...I dunno. I was just... driving." She looks up at the rear view mirror, making eye contact with you in the reflection. "Blondie... what are we doin'?"

Time to take inventory, but not just of our things.

Who are we? Jane the hybrid, Michelle the Gunner, Caius the Fighter, Fuse the Bomb. What assets do we have in terms of skill and personal resource? Do we consider Macland as among us now?

What items do we have at our disposal? Do any supplies need replenishing? Have the four of us eaten?

Does anyone outside our group know where we are? Could they? Is this car identifiable? Do we still have something on us with a bug?

Where can we go? The Lower tiers are Mad Max, the middle tiers are where we're expected, and the upper tiers are where the bad guys live.

What are our goals? Short-term? Long-term? Aside from rescuing THE Finch, what do we want from life?

I have some proposals, but they can wait until we've summed up our situation.

Maybe call the number. They have Dr. Finch anyway, we can't ignore them much longer.

Also, check if Mackey drunk himself into a booze-powered nap. Maybe you can learn his plan without giving him any real info back.

As an aside, Jane should consider improving her blood talents. She must level her fleshcrafting up. Maybe regenerate her ears properly for starters.
Dr. Finch will need a lot of new flesh to replace the necrotised stuff. Michelle will essentially need a new body made of not-piss poor DNA while keeping her psyche intact (unlike those clones with bad braincopies).
The only replacement we'll get for her is a normal-life expectancy Michelle. Maybe that will cancel her super musculature, but I doubt she'd mind after a while.

I appreciate how level-headed you've been so far, PK.

I don't think we should call the number until we have a way to keep that from coming back to bite us. But we do need to have one of our ravens pursue that agent diligently. I WANT HER SECRET. >:(

Checking in on Macland is a great idea.

I have been thinking for a while that learning to use our unique talents better is important. Some time when we have the freedom, I think Jane and Fuse need to sit down, juice up on some fake Level, and explore each others' powers. Fuse can teach us how to control our fleshcraft, and we can help Fuse explore new possibilities beyond simply throwing fire at things. Pyrokinesis has a LOT of possibility. Just look at the powerlisting wiki page for Fire Manipulation. It's up to MM what kind of versatility Fuse could reach, but the beauty of a mutation over something like nanobots or a program is that mutations are made to grow and change.

I honestly wonder if calling the number could really make things any worse at this point. The only thing I could think of that it might do would be to allow the feds to track us, and Fuse might be able to work his hacking magic to at least enable us to have a short conversation without them being able to pinpoint our location. We don't exactly have any safe houses left to reveal, anyways.

We don't really have any expertise in physically avoiding being tailed and/or otherwise surveilled, so it's pretty certain that we'll be found by SOMEBODY sooner or later. It might be a good idea to try to swing that toward being found by the people who already have Dr. Finch, rather than by the people who we *know* will do their best to kill us on sight.

Argh, we need to rest and plan, and we have neither a place to do that nor time for it.

Mutations can....
and Jane can...
so... oh dear.
If we observed how the cells in Fuse work to create pyrokinesis, I mean we don't have to understand the product, rather what the cells are and what they do to operate...
We could in essence create organs to mimic those abilities and give them to others. (which BTW is the power of many-a-villain)

Hoo boy...
Or it could be used to increase the potency/number and focus/capacity of Fuse's own pyro cells, or whatever it is he uses.

...i know they're all expecting us to be the ~fearless leader~ but... if it were me in this situation i think i'd need a good long cry. until two months ago we were just a nurse in a shitty hospital minding our own business until some rich fuck with a god complex mind controlled some hobos into injecting us with a mindfuck drug that killed us. and now, everyone either wants us dead or expects us to save the world. that's a lot of pressure to put on one person. and, to put some shit icing on this shit cake, one of our very few friends nearly died and is now in the custody of a federal agent with dubious intentions. so... not the best day. not the best day at all.

we might have freaky blood powers, we might have survived some serious shit, but we're still just one girl.

You know, you're right. I don't think there's anything we can do right now that requires our immediate attention. We need to get Jane, Michelle, Caius, and Fuse into safety, somewhere...and feel this out. We're half Nyarly and two of our people were grown in pods, but we're all just people. It's time to sit down, be human, and deal with shit once we've cleared our heads.

I agree with this. While Jane wouldn't necessarily just break down sobbing at this point (because she's damn resilient), I don't think even she would be able to contain tears right now. She's known Dr. Finch longer than anyone else, having worked with him. He's the first one who took her blood into his body and trusted her with that. She was syncing with him and knows how terribly afraid he was the whole time. This was a horrible development. I wouldn't be surprised if Jane blamed herself almost entirely for this turnabout at this moment, even if it's not her fault that everyone is out to get her.

While Jane would always make the next decision because she's their 'fearless leader', I also think she needs moments of real vulnerability with people she actually trusts, like everyone in that car right now. She needs a moment of not repressing that pressure for a bit. Then she can get back to the reins.

should we check on the rat to see if anyone is in our home? We might be able to use it as a temporary base, we can also use the birds.

Back to house, reconnaissance, if no issue crash there, if issue head for Caius's place. Keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles en route.

To the Blood Cave!

But seriously, I think we could go all Batman on this.
I have a few ideas for tools and other items we could make.
All we'd need to start this off is a Safe Place to hide, and a few containers of the Bio Paste.

We know that blood can be used to animate objects, but what if we turned those into tools for our friends instead?
We can make
-Portal kits
-Grapling Hooks (self-guided, or even used to tangle a target)
-Dart Launchers (with other substances inside, the blood just launches it in place of gunpowder)
-Armor? (If the Blood could harden in response to attacks it would help ward off wounds.)
-Carbon Implements (possibly weapons if they can be sharpened)

The portal kits can be a lot smaller than you'd first imagine, why? Cause the Blood can portal more blood in!
Coat a ping-pong ball with blood and have it roll around to a desired location, spread the blood it's carrying, and warp in enough of a pool for a person to enter through. Then warp the blood back out when the portal is done for reuse.

Then comes the question of more blood. We can produce bones, and bones make blood. Therefore if we make a small bone structure, and feed it the Bio Paste, we can generate blood without needing to drain ourselves.

There aren't a lot of safe places for us, but in the short-term, we might consider heading back to Jane's place just for a short rest. (Our rat never alerted us of any intrusions and Caius never found any surveillance, so probably, it should be fine. Hide in the last place they expect, and all. We could get Willard to check if there are any suspicious vehicles parked in front. If not, why not.)

In the long-term, the second-best residence is probably Michelle's place, or Caius's place. Fuse lives in the 'wild west' parts of the Lower Tiers, but Michelle lives very close to the Middle Tiers while still sticking in the Lower Tiers, so it would be less dangerous. Caius's place is a bit more iffy because of Shirai certainly knowing where he lives. They may not be strictly keeping tabs on him right now, though. So it's a toss-up between Caius and Michelle in terms of finding somewhere safe to actually stick around.

Right now, Jane needs a rest. I suggest perceiving through Dr. Finch to see where he's at (we can still do that even if he's passed out) and setting our blood alarm on Dr. Finch, when he wakes up.

We don't want to leave him in their hands for long, but they might let him rest overnight. Unless they're horrible people who would use chatter on a guy riddled with necrotic tissue and a broken throat, we probably have at least the night to rest. When daylight comes, we can figure out through the raven where he's gone, and possible figure out through syncing with Dr. Finch if he's well enough by then, and then go from there.

I think since so much of Finch's blood is our blood, from the impalement incident, then I think converting the blood from standard form to antibodies might have been a bad move as it might have affected like sudden blood loss/over concentration of antibodies. Converting all of the blood may have been a bad move
