After asking Dr. Finch, you spend a little while dyeing your hair. You also consider getting your missing eye taken care of. You haven't had a chance to do so, since you were trying to lay low until the hacker got caught. There are various medical facilities in the middle and upper tiers that could replace your eye, though it's late--it'll have to wait until tomorrow, at the very least. Dr. Finch has a lot of medical tools, but isn't sufficiently equipped to replace a missing eye.

Incidentally, you ask Dr. Finch if you can use any of his stuff.

"I don't see why not," he says, "though I don't know how useful it will be."

Opening his lab cabinet, you realize... you actually don't know what half these things are. He has numerous pieces of medical equipment, but a significant number of them are outside your expertise as a nurse. It seems like, in his spare time, Dr. Finch does a lot of work beyond the scope of a normal physician.

Ok, you know what... let's just leave it for now... Or we could see about poking Dr. Finch's brain to see what might be useful.

Also, someone needs to draw art of the good doctor with the rat on his shoulder.

I'll definitely give that a whirl later on tonight! :D

I wonder if I should have made the rat bigger after seeing the size of the mutated rat from earlier, actually... XD;;
Morgenstern 9th Aug 2017, 3:20 PM edit delete reply
This entire thing is too cute, but especially that rat
rufiangel 10th Aug 2017, 8:17 AM edit delete reply
@MM: I was also internally debating whether to go with a close-up of the rat going 'if she ever relinquishes control of me, Finch, for experimenting with my brethren I will go for your jugular' and then Jane smiling and going like " what the rat is thinking!" while Dr. Finch looks at the rat like >___> and Michelle would've been watching from the side and saying to Fuse, "I thiiink she's fuckin' with him. It's hard to tell."

But I'm happy you liked the cute XD <3

What else can we feasibly do to prepare to bust into a dangerous nightclub...? Before we risk making rich and powerful enemies, I would like to have a big solid plan.

I guess our game plan should be to find our guy, stay as unseen as possible, and wait to jump him until he's isolated enough to kidnap?

Funny thing about that, going in stealthy requires way more funds than we have. Not to mention means of getting insider information, which we don't have and can't get due to the place being more or less a white collar criminal hangout. ... at least I think I'm using "white collar criminal" properly there.
They're absurdly rich and powerful, we're not getting in through the front door unassuming like unless they let us in. Best to blow a hole in one of the exterior walls and go in guns blazing, blindfolding, gagging and zip-tying the guy we want answers from and getting the hell out.......

.... shit I just realized we need a neutral spot to ask questions in so we don't bring the heat to one of the party's actual homes.
Knew I was missing something major.

Keep in mind that Grizwald *did* successfully investigate the club's man-sized vents already. So we might actually feasibly be able to manage a certain degree of stealth, especially if we start with just surveillance using our rat (which is much smaller and probably less smelly than Grizwald).

It's definitely very very possible that the explosions and guns-blazing will need to happen, but we can at least *try* not to provoke ALL the aggro at once.
Xylas_Incarnum 9th Aug 2017, 4:56 AM edit delete reply
That was minor probing from a hiding place, watching from out of sight and listening in and leaving when bored/had enough. Not getting in, steal shit/take people without being caught and get out.

What I'm saying is, this thing can start silent, but it's going to end up loud at the end of the day. Controlling the pace and beat of a fight is more valuable an asset than people generally think.

Going loud when we move may be somewhat rookie-ish but this group is nothing if not rookies.

Not to mention doing this quietly is more of a highly trained crew thing. We ain't at that level. Best to stick with what we can pull off.

We don't have a lot of funds, we don't have all that many contacts, no insider information, no get away drivers, no hired help to clean things up.

The only reason we're even going through with this is because it's personal.
*reads the addon comment.*
.... Oh right that's also an option isn't it? I keep forgetting that's part of Jane's abilities.

In that case all we really need is a blowdart and a dart gun... provided he's at an angle we can hit from the vents.
Kitty 9th Aug 2017, 1:05 AM edit delete reply
Also, we probably don't need to bother with the blindfold and zip-ties-- we can just inject the guy with our blood and forcibly take over his brain, and make him walk himself out of the club. We probably should be ready to blindfold, bind, and gag just in case something really unexpected happens with the blood control, but the blood should at least make that easier.

Aww we now have dyed hair, I hope Michelle keeps calling us Blondie though just because XD (Fuse calls us that too I'm guessing? Not sure what Dr. Finch addresses us as!)

And I am so happy to see our rat on Dr. Finch's shoulder <333

So by 'replacing an eye', are we talking about a bio-printed eyeball? Is it something we have to get an operation for to insert, or can we, uh, get an eyeball and then have Dr. Finch stick it in for us with the appropriate equipment? (Suddenly thinking of Minority Report here XD)
Morgenstern 9th Aug 2017, 1:14 AM edit delete reply
Yup, bio printed eyes. It's a pretty minor operation, though I guess yeah you could have it printed up somewhere and then haul it to Dr. Finch in a cooler or something
rufiangel 9th Aug 2017, 1:22 AM edit delete reply
Aha, gotcha. Hmm, I'm just concerned that the Queen has eyes everywhere (pun half-intended) and I don't want to go under for a minor operation unless it's with someone I trust, like Dr. Finch. So maybe the cooler option is ideal? XD;

By the way, MM! Speaking of eyeballs, if you don't mind, I'd love to know the colours of the characters' irises just for fanarting purposes XD; (I know I'm kind of obsessed, sorry if I'm scaring you :'D) Do you have official iris colours for them? :)
Morgenstern 9th Aug 2017, 1:56 AM edit delete reply
XD Nah, it's cool. I really like your fan art. I'm afraid I've not actually thought about their eye colors that much. I never sketch anything out, I just jump straight to making the sprites, so eye color never comes up.

And here I was thinking we'd be getting a cybernetic eye. It's not like we can't afford it. We probably became a nurse to pass the time doing something worthwhile.
Xylas_Incarnum 9th Aug 2017, 4:58 AM edit delete reply
if we had an absolute fuck ton of money like that's implying lying about, Jane would have been driving regardless of the gas prices. I think that due to bio printing, that sort of transplant surgery is rather cheap now. Seeing how even the cheapskate hospital she and finch worked at had a fully working bio printer. ... which was also the final boss of act 1.

Does Jane's family have any other properties aside from the house? Maybe a vacation home out in the country or something? Is it possible that our assailants wouldn't know about a second home, or are there public records about that sort of thing that they'd be able to access in order to track us down?

Just thinking of places we can take our hopeful future hostage.

Jane's mom's Red is a sentient transdimensional spaceship.
I don't think there's any safer fallback on the entire planet.
Kitty 9th Aug 2017, 11:13 AM edit delete reply
Hmm, I wonder if we can rig it so we can enter Mom's Red from other locations, then. Because the bad guys can still theoretically leave all sorts of traps and such for us at our house, which they know about, even if they can't get into the Red itself.

...I'd love to see 'em *try* to get into Mom's Red, though... *CHOMP om nom nom*
