Morgenstern
You tell Edison that it's because the world isn't fair.

What Thale's doing is wrong... but he's not the first to commandeer an insane amount of power and use it to hurt people. That's... kind of the history of the world. Poor people, unusual people, lab-grown people--everyone's used and abused by the elite and powerful. You... you became a nurse in the first place because you wanted to make a difference. You could have worked in the upper tiers, but you thought people further down the city would need it more. You tried to make a difference, as much as you could, with what little you could do.

...You can do a lot more now.

You can change the world in far more notable ways than you ever could then, but you haven't changed. Your mentality hasn't changed, your goals, your outlook. You still just want to make a difference--you want to give the suffering a chance to be happy. You want to right wrongs, and make up for the unfairness that is... well, everything.

You understand where Edison's coming from. You've experienced loss, you've had people close to you taken, and you've felt that anger. You don't blame her for that... and you know there's more to her than just a person that tried to hurt you. She was manipulated into trying to kill you, it's not her fault.

You just want to do whatever you can, as much as possible, to make it right--for her, and her sisters. All of them suffered undeservedly. You have to at least try to correct that, at least make an attempt to make up for what was done. You just want everyone--even ghosts--to have a chance to be happy. You just want the world to be better, and if you have to do that one person at a time, then so be it. You can afford to do that now.

Edison stares at the floor.

She's quiet for a very long time.

"I... I'm..." She pauses, swallowing, fidgeting with her hands as she keeps her gaze lowered. "I'm sorry. I'm... s-sorry I tried to kill you, I..."

Her voice cracks. "I thought they killed Faraday, and... and they said they were sorry, but if they were sorry, why..."

A tear rolls down Edison's cheek. "Why did they do it...? I didn't... I didn't understand..."

Slowly, she leans her forehead against the glass. "I thought no one cared."

"The scientist did it to save his family," Faraday replies, approaching the glass. "They would've brought me back, but they didn't know how. The scientists all thought I was dead, too."

Tesla moves closer, as well. "Mine and... and C-Caius, and Dr. Finch, and everyone, th-they f... figured it out. They didn't have to help, but they did!"

"I just..." Edison can barely get the words out, quietly sobbing against the glass. "I thought everyone was liars, I thought... I thought no one cared, I didn't...

I didn't know."

Now we need to comfort edison and tell her its okay.

as much as I'd like to release Edison so that her sisters can give her a hug, I think a safer course of action would be to ask the ghost sisters if they wanna head into her chamber and give her a hug.

Might take some time, since we have to call in Michelle or Caius (or hey, both) have them load the ghost girls into the tube and then connect the tube to the chamber one at a time, and then when they wanna come back out, they'll also have to crawl into the tube and then out one at a time

That'll take a while, but it's pretty safe?

The alternative is putting all of our trust into Edison and releasing her, hoping she's not just like acting or something

For that, let's just get Fuse and Michelle+ghostgun into this room. That would definitely be faster

I think in this cases, given how much we've expanded our electricity powers, we can probably safely bring her out to hug her sisters.

I *do* think it's a good idea for her to stay in her room for a while when we can't supervise her-- we can give her plenty of activities to do, though, so she doesn't feel bored or alone-- and we can work on building trust so that she can come out unsupervised soon.

Actually I don’t think we have the mental or physical(spiritual?) energy left to overpower Edison right now, considering the day we had.

We might want to call them into the entry, while letting Edison out. That way they'll be there if things go south, but won't make Edison feel bad/in danger/untrusted (we don't entirely trust her, but she doesn't need to know that).

Hug time! I think it's time for Edison to come out and see her sisters and get a big ol' hug.

Thank her for apologizing, and say we forgive her. It takes a *lot* of strength and maturity to apologize, and we really appreciate that.

We understand that Edison has been through a *lot.* It's perfectly understandable that she was angry and sad. We would be angry too! We ARE angry a lot of the time when the people close to us are hurt. The scientists may not have showed it because they were afraid, but we bet they were probably angry too, under all that fear, that they and the people close to them were being threatened.

Edison doesn't have to be ashamed of her feelings, but from now on, we WOULD like to help her learn ways of expressing how she feels that would be less hurtful to people, and would make it easier for her to learn how others are thinking. We can do activities together sometimes, maybe draw pictures or make crafts or play pretend, and we can talk about things. If she ever needs anything or wants to talk about anything, she can tell us. Even if we have to be gone sometimes, we'll try to be there for her as much as possible, and make sure that there's someone who's able to talk to her when we're not.

Also, it's probably a good idea for Edison to stay in her room when we can't supervise her, at least for a little while, while she learns how to manage her anger safely. We should make it clear that we don't want to punish her, just to make sure that she and her sisters and everyone else are safe, because we know it can be hard to let go of anger. We can give her plenty of activities to do in there, though, like the kid-friendly sewing kit we bought a while back. We can bring Tesla's tent in here if the other girls would like to stay with her. We can even put a blood bug inside Edison's room via our usual delivery method for items in these rooms, and then we'll be able to get things in and out more quickly and visit her easily.

...Since we have weird powers and ghost-y experience can we try to just hug Edison or try to step out of our body and hug Edison?

We're gonna offer her a hug. Cause she didn't know. And that's alright.

Hrmm I don't know about this, maybe I'm just paranoid but she's gone from stabby stabby death girl to scared little helpless girl literally overnight, this feels too easy. I vote we don't take any drastic measures like letting her out of containment or anything just yet, I'm not fully trusting of this.
PurpleKetchup 17th Dec 2018, 11:59 PM edit delete reply
Well, we can first ask if she'd behave and trust her answer.
If she can go back to her initial mischievous mode and forget about murdering everyone around her, I'm all for letting her out.
The Chicken Guy 18th Dec 2018, 7:30 AM edit delete reply
Keep in mind, for her, all of this has been in the span of a few days.

Ask Edison what she wants now. Hopefully she's moved past the "pry your eyes out of your head" thing.

I'm just gonna leave a quiet vote here that if in the future, for whatever reason, if Edison does talk about prying out eyes again, we use that blood portal trick to pop our eye out. I'll almost guarantee that will defuse the situation, and have hilarious reactions and consequences.

By the power of the warm and fuzzy unnecessary niceness Mine helps "monsters" one person at a time.... well, she does do some bulk stuff too but the major things are one at a time.

Memo
We should offer for the other girls to get to Edison so they can hug.
I don't think it will be good to ask her to come out.
Asking her to crawl into the container, even just for a short while, could be bad, as it could be seen as duplicitous.
Also, I'm not a 100% convinced yet that she is sincere, and in the chance she isn't, I don't want her outside.
We should still be very supportive and forgiving though.
