Edison approaches the glass. She doesn't lash out immediately, just... dragging an angry glare from you, to the other girls. "Why?," Edison finally asks. "Why are you going to all this trouble? Why didn't you just leave me in the tube?"
"Because you're our sister," Faraday replies.
"M... M-Mine brought it up," Tesla says, hiding somewhat behind Faraday. "She asked if... if we wanted to help you. And we said yes."
Edison slowly turns her attention back to you. "Why you, then? I tried to kill you. Wh... what are you really after?"
Maybe not necessarily reference the bad points of Edison's past, unless she knows you know, but at the very least mention that you believe she's more than just someone out to hurt you.
We're after a better world. We're not satisfied with the way things are, and we have the power to change it. The future Thale has set out for us isn't the future we're trying to create. We'll continue moving towards it, and Edison is a part of that future.
Edison could have killed us at any time during the game, but she didn't. She has sisters who care about her and believe in her, and we believe in her too.
+1,000
Also emphasize that it doesn't matter to us whether they're ghosts or not -- that they never deserved what was done to them, and we aim to redress the wrong. That's kinda what we do, really.
We might even be able to return the girls to their pre-Odin state. But ONLY if Edison is not going to attack anyone and everyone she comes across.
Mischeviousness is alright. Murderous intent is not.
Amd after this mess is through, if it works, if we survive... we might go into imprint consouling & therapy. But maybe keep that to ourselves for now. XD
Point out that it seems pretty normal to want to reunite sisters with each others, and that at this point we really don't take attempts on our life too personal anymore (unless someone gets a bit too close to succeeding, but maybe not mention that).
We can understand why she distrusts us, and we believe she doesn't have to live like this.
Seconding this line of thought. We're doing this because all three of them have been through enough bullshit and trying to help is the least we can do to try and balance everything out.
Yeah - we don't exactly appreciate the attempt on our life, but they've been through so much garbage, we have no want to add to it. All of them deserve some leeway, and we are in a position to give it.
We've been there.
When Prophet made us feel that Michelle died...we would have murdered him.
To be clear-the only reason we didn't murder him was because he asphyxiated in fear before we got to him with the knife.
This wasn't some random faceless mook-we talked with him, and understood where he was coming from in this whole mess.
And maybe we would have negotiated again with him, maybe we could have reached an understanding.
But he made us lose her. And he made us lose the others.
It almost broke us, for a loss that was truly real only for a few seconds, done to us by an enemy.
Edison lost one of her true family by one of the only people she trusted, and had to live with it.
So yeah, we don't blame her.
Would be a bit hypocritical if we did.
Because we're a cupcake! :D We've done a lot of soul-searching-- some of it quite literal-- and this is really just a huge part of who we are. What we're doing is just... being ourselves.
Also, we do a lot of struggling with figuring out what is "human." Helping people and making them happy makes us feel human in a really, really good way.
Both Michelle and Fuse tried to kill us when they were Queened! And Caius would have, if we hadn't blooded him from behind. Liz's arm tried to kill us, too. So we are *really* used to people trying to kill us and then turning out to be awesome friends. You may not have been infected with a mind-control drug like they were, but you were also being manipulated by somebody. The blame doesn't lie with you. It lies with Thale, because he's the one who's responsible for all of this-- him and the system that allows him to do what he does.
So if you want to see it this way, any time we help someone that Thale has hurt, any time we take someone he used as a weapon against us and turn them into a friend... it's cocking a big ol' snook in his face. We are sticking our tongue out at him *so hard* by helping you.
Edison came a long way from the bloodthirsty banshee we initially met. Liz is a miracle worker in her own category.
Gotta make sure to fix her body real good to repay her for her help.
They deserve better...ENERYone deserves better. life is just so UNfair! (probably the reason Mine became a nurse in the mid tiers, instead of the high or low, can help the most people who NEED it there)and for once Mine has Power, MORE power then the Unfairness has, she can actually DO something about it. so... Empathy+A sense of justice+Frustration?
To be honest, this is a really good question, one we need to answer for our selves (Mine needs to answer for herself) as much as Edison needs an answer.
It's not just that we're a good person. Nice people don't forgive genuine attempts on their life just like that the way we do, not that quickly and not as often as we do at least. What we do and why we do it transcends "it's just the way I am," and to answer as such sidesteps the real question and does Edison and us a disservice.
What are we after? What are we REALLY after? We're out to change the world. We see the hurting people, the corrupt systems, the cycles that keep people trapped, and have the rare opportunity to change them. To improve them. To help. We've been under oppression several times and don't wish that on anyone. We know what the right thing to do is and have the strength to act on it.
We have many, many enemies who want to see us fail because of the change that we bring. They corrupt, we cleanse. They take, we give. They sacrifice, we restore. They bring death, we bring life. We are the best Christ analogy since the actual Christ. (Don't tell Edison that last bit. It's a bit ahh, arrogant.)
We want to see Edison become the best, freeist version of herself that she can be. We want to help everyone to be free of the their hurt and the cycles and tyrants that inhibit them. We go to such lengths to prove that we're better than those tyrants, both individuals like Thale and Carpenter, and more abstract tyrants like Nil, and societal norms that devalue people who are different. Better in morals and better in power.
We forgive Edison, because we see how she's hurting, how she's lashing out against not us, but those who have abused her and the ones she values. We just happened to be in the firing line. We're more than willing to take a couple of hits, or many, to let the aggression out, and then foster understanding and acceptance.
What are we after? We're out to make a better world, one person at a time.
Why do we do this? Because we are the champions, my friend.
Because I said so.
Because it's a form of martial arts self defence.
Because it's in our world destroying blood.
Because I dunno.
Because we like to and ain't nobody gonna stop us.
Because we have a hero complex and literally can't stop. Please send help.
Because we're really afraid of what we'll become if we don't help people.
One of the best ways to defeat Thale, is to undo the horrible wrongs he did. What has happened to the three sisters is part of that, and really, if we can help someone, why would we not?
Edison could have killed us at any time during the game, but she didn't. She has sisters who care about her and believe in her, and we believe in her too.
