You ready your scalpel. You want to try and talk it out with this... aspect of yourself, but she doesn't look all that approachable. She seems to have become vaguely aware of your presence, stopping to listen; bandages cover her eyes, so you don't think she can see you.

You calmly, gently, attempt to speak with the much larger Mine.

Having pinpointed your location, the enormous iteration of you screams, and immediately comes running down the hall with knives hoisted upward, ready to stab with either or both.

It does not seem like she wants to sit down and have a rational discourse about the entire situation.

Literal blind rage, huh?

Duck back into the room. See if we can snag one or both books from the shelf on the way in! Maybe we can throw the books to make a noisy distraction. Even if not, maybe we can get the mouth desk to open and then clack its teeth together by extending and withdrawing a hand near it.
EmergencyTemporalShift 15th Jun 2018, 5:23 PM edit delete reply
If we're opening the mouth desk manually, then we have to be right next to it, defeating the purpose of a distraction.
Gigafreak 15th Jun 2018, 6:05 PM edit delete reply
The desk mouth is wider than Mine is tall. She can reach the mouth and open it from the closet door, and it has teeth all the way around to the hallway door on the opposite side. "Two yards of buffer distance" is quite a lot when you're looking at distractions for blind monsters.

So, what if we cut the bandages away from her eyes? Blind rage no longer blind becomes... what?

It would be dangerous, but I sort of feel like just avoiding aspects of ourselves is missing the point.
Gigafreak 15th Jun 2018, 5:25 PM edit delete reply
Indeed. Maybe she can be made to see that her rage is misdirected if she is no longer blind. Though she's lashing out at the sound of Mine's (her own) voice, so maybe not... And it's not exactly a good time to try it when she's running right at us with weapons raised.
Worth trying if we can sneak up on her, but also probably best to run like hell anyway the moment the bandages are off.

After further discourse, it sounds like we'll want to try to disable her in some way and try to get those bandages off... see if it does anything.

If Nurse!Mine has bandages, we can try to extend them at ankle level in the door way to trip her.

If that doesn't work, we can bait her into sticking a hand in the drawer (or stabbing into the drawer) with noise, perhaps by throwing a book in it. If we can get the drawer to snap shut on her hand, she may be pinned long enough for us to get the bandages off her.

We'll want to be prepared to run in case cutting the bandages from her eyes does nothing, but it's worth a try - we're here to find ourselves, not run from them.

If the threat is over, we can even hug her.

But not while she's still holding a knife and/or flailing dangerously.

Quietly step to the side and bring nurse you with you.
Gigafreak 15th Jun 2018, 6:16 PM edit delete reply
Agree, we need to make sure the Nurse is safe too.
Nayru9572 15th Jun 2018, 6:17 PM edit delete reply
No matter what, first get the nurse-you to safety! Maybe we could find a way to lock her or get her trapped in the teeth-drawer?

If Our red's working in here, (and nothing says it isn't, we just haven't used it) make a meat wall for the rage kami to run into.
Blue_Elite 15th Jun 2018, 6:28 PM edit delete reply
Just to throw it out there, we can simply not deal with rage!Mine at this time. Duck back into the nurse room, throw a book to get rage!Mine to run pass, then just quietly re-enter back into the hallway.
I highly doubt this will be the last violet aspect of us we'll run into and we may want to try going about this in the ol' pit-monster-against-monster fashion.
PurpleKetchup 15th Jun 2018, 7:36 PM edit delete reply
The part of Mine that wants to punish herself then...?
Guilt can degenerate into a nasty thing. I hope we can help her out.
Dodge silently, use blood on bandages/knives to slow movements ?
Caydenite 15th Jun 2018, 7:44 PM edit delete reply
If we have bandages (or can manifest them mentally somehow) take one and each and separate to either side, tripping them. If we don't, we should both duck back into the room and make some noise whilst Nursey hides.

Quick, use your bone armor spell. Then disarm and hugs.
Twelveseal 15th Jun 2018, 8:48 PM edit delete reply
Hugs? In bone armor? Sounds unpleasant. This makes me think of Mine when she went off on Prophet now. Still tied to the sense that she is a monster, especially since he died from the fear of her. We could try to dump her through the closet, or trap her in the cabinet's teeth, but honestly, I think we need to come to terms with her as well. Not sure how just yet, besides maybe making her not be blind.
Guest 15th Jun 2018, 8:38 PM edit delete reply
use your blood powers to make her stop. She's you, right?

just don't think about it too hard
Akasha 15th Jun 2018, 8:42 PM edit delete reply
Making sure our nurse-self is safe is priority one.

Also, it feels like we're kinda blatantly ignoring what the red book said about how particular aspects like this one are meant to be overcome, and not something that we have to embrace. If anything, we merely need to get her out of the way.

Either way, I agree with utilizing one of the books as a distraction against this particular monster-Mine. If we can find a way to lure her into the drawer-maw, then all the better.
Twelveseal 15th Jun 2018, 8:50 PM edit delete reply
Huh. Maybe we can make her see the book.
PurpleKetchup 15th Jun 2018, 9:31 PM edit delete reply
Wasn't the book filled with the people she met ? I read the overcome bit as yet another "you should become a god and leave them behind already".
Skullrama 15th Jun 2018, 10:05 PM edit delete reply
I actually agree that the book was a hint that we don't HAVE to hug and love all aspects of ourselves.

But I still wanna try to overcome this one in the least violent, most accepting way possible. Shoving her in the closet seems fraught with metaphorical implications that are best avoided.
Twelveseal 15th Jun 2018, 11:38 PM edit delete reply
Lol, true. Makes me wonder what meeting Mine's sexuality will be like. Especially since we've seen so little of it up until now.
