You discuss a few other options with the group.

Like rigging a distant tunnel with explosives, then using yourself to bait the monster.

"Mmmno," Michelle replies. "Throwin' you down there is waaay too risky."

"We would need to locate somewhere safe," Dr. Finch states. "Somewhere that would minimize the collateral damage of collapsing the street. We don't want Grizwald hurt, but we don't want to hurt other bystanders, either."

"And the church is pretty far from where the Tobu hack messed everything up," Fuse adds. "So trying to lure it to the abandoned part of town isn't real feasible. We'd have to scout out some place."

"Why are we still talkin' about this?," Michelle asks. "Blondie ain't bait."

"C'mon," Caius says, waving a hand. "She's a big girl, she can handle herself. Besides, I don't see that monster movin' all that quick."

"If it's as large as suggested," Elizabeth begins, "it may find difficulty navigating too many turns in the tunnel system. A complex escape route would make it easier to lure away safely."

Michelle sighs. "I don't like this plan."

"You got a better one?," Fuse asks.

"Space bullets," Michelle replies simply.

"Hell yeah!," Caius blurts out, despite having no context for the statement.

Michelle has to pause to recover from... well, Caius. She continues. "The minigun was okay in Bunker X, but it was usin' normal handgun ammo. We could trade up a bunch o' regular bullets for... I dunno, mind blowin' Fuck You rounds. From space. We're tryin' to be stealthy, but this might be the one time a straight up assault is the best plan. Rush in, mow down the guards, grab the Griz before Thale even knows what the hell's goin' on. We could be in and out before that monster even breaks through the floor. It ain't gonna eat the church in an instant, we could straight up blitz the place. We got the firepower."

"For tha record, I like this plan," Caius adds.

Fuse sighs, trying not to laugh. "Of course you do."

"We don't know how quickly that monster could get through the floor, or bring down the building," Dr. Finch replies. "We must also consider whether Hope is concealing any further defenses--we don't know what kind of situation Grizwald is in."

Fuse nods. "Hope could have some kinda deadman's switch ready, for all we know. We can get Grizwald before the monster breaks in, sure, but there's a chance Hope could off Grizwald as soon as we kick in the door. We really don't know what we're dealing with."

For now, you sneak your bug down the rows, creeping it along ways that make it less likely to be spotted by guards. You slowly, cautiously maneuver your bug down to the stage... where you find Grizwald. And Brother Hope. And Hope's entourage.

"Yer a damn psychopath," Grizwald grumbles. It's... a little weird, hearing him mostly sober. "All o' ya. Ya don't know who or WHAT yer messin' with."

"Ohhh," Hope begins dramatically, a very stiff grin creeping across his face. "that's where you are wrong, my friend. I know exactly, EXACTLY who it is that I am messing with... and who I am messing with is an angel of the LORD. He is my protector, my guardian, a watchful EYE Mister Grizwald! And nothing, NOTHING you or that SHE-DEVIL you associate with will ever bring harm upon me. You are on the wrooong side of this story, my friend."

Grizwald spits. "Talkin' real big fer havin' a homeless guy tied up. Take these ropes offa' me, we'll see if yer guardian angel holds up."

"Violence is not the answer, Mister Grizwald," mumbles the old man with the cane--who you've recently learned is Douglas Gargan.

"Violence ain't tha answer?!," Grizwald shouts. "Ya damn near electrocuted me ta death! Yer fat goon over there punched me in tha face! YA GOT ME TIED UP! D'you stains even listen to yerselves?!"

"It's all for the greater good, my friend," replies Brother Hope. "You'll see. The moment... is coming. The day of reckoning. The day when all God's children RISE UP and JOIN their master... and we, we will be the ones to usher it in. You just need... to be patient."

"I jus' need a drink an' five minutes with yer face," Grizwald says through gritted teeth.

New plan, blood Grizwald, tell him what's up and fortify him like Caius was in his cage match, then sit back and watch the show.
Akasha 16th May 2018, 11:30 PM edit delete reply
I mean, that's a pretty cool idea and all, but that leaves a few problems.

1) The disco guards, who I presume are armed while our hobo buddy here doesn't really have anything other than his wits and his bare hands.

B) the tunnel monster is still a thing, and could possibly come up to ragequit the whole plan and take Griz out with it, thus rendering everything moot.

III) There may be some other insidious bullshit on the upper floors that we haven't checked out. That may be undue worry on my part, but I'd rather make sure we know as much as we can before we actually do shit.

Oh, and Δ) Big Fat Guy (whose name I've forgotten and can't be bothered to recall) over there has a big fuckin' gun, if memory serves me right. That's also a thing.

I have little to add, except that your numbering scheme is fantastic and I wanted to appreciate it.

While blooding Griz is probably the best way to get him out, I would hold off on the face punching until we are in a better position to assist.

Blood him quick tho, we may not get a better shot at it, and we should probably get him the armour spell asap as well.

Plant a few "Eggs" in this place, and try to make the Bug a bit bigger using materials of our Red, to see the speed of growth. Having an army of Instant-Golems could be really useful in this situation XD.
In the best case, we don't even need to Rush there ourselves, we can simply Kill/Blood the big Monster, and use a Golem to rescue Gryz. Or the opposite, we can simply send a Golem to he Big Monster and, while it is occupied being pierced by bone, we rescue Gryz XD.

But in whatever case, this is a good oportunity to test a new approach: Golems as a Vanguard. We only use things like that when we take control of a Monster, but we never do it with Golems. Let's change that XD.

Could we trick the monster into chasing a ghost?
Gigafreak 17th May 2018, 12:47 AM edit delete reply
Be at point A, astral-project near the monster, lure it to point B, return to body while it's elsewhere? That might not be a bad idea.
pkrankow 17th May 2018, 6:27 AM edit delete reply
What kinda range does Astral Pajamas have?

We cannot control things or communicate over distance when projecting, which is a big negative.
Ablaze 16th May 2018, 11:48 PM edit delete reply
What i really want to do is somehow portal the monster into the next floor of bunker x and let that destroy it for us. But maybe we could do the next best thing... Couldn't we grab a few bio printers, "upgrade" them, and then print an acid blooded monstrosity and then have a giant monster vs monster battle in the tunnels! What could go wrong?
Akasha 16th May 2018, 11:58 PM edit delete reply
I mean, where the fuck are we even gonna get the parts, for one. Never you mind how expensive it'd be, for that matter.

More importantly, we have our red, which we can infinitely pull material from. If anything, it'd just be vastly easier to make some blood portals between home base and whatever tunnel entrance we use, then start pulling shit from it in order to make some sort of super-abomination.
ReikoLupus 16th May 2018, 11:58 PM edit delete reply
We don't need to print a Monster, we can create a Golem in our Red XD. This is something I'm saying since time ago: We can create a damn BIG Golem, specially for combat, and use it to Fight against the monsters they throw at us XD.
(Yes, if a game has a character that can use Invocation, I'll always choose it XD)

A giant Golem, with an armor of Bone covering it's large and agile body, with Sharp claws and horns, a regenerative ability almost perfect for the fact that it can't die since it is not alive and only needs us to regenerate all of it's wounds... And to make it even better, that can shoot needles of bone filled with Blood XD.
1977 17th May 2018, 3:55 AM edit delete reply
I said from the beginning (as in the first time I posted here) we should trade up a few bioprinters and biopaste.
Though it was not to create a monster with it.
For monsters we have the red, but to repair the damage done to ourselves and the others we just need the best technology available.
PurpleKetchup 17th May 2018, 12:05 AM edit delete reply
Well, that's one objective down.
Not exactly the best spot to manage a prisoner... will they not give Grizwald any food for days ?

Relay the info to Jury that we have a confirmed visual on the kidnapped person - maybe she can intervene officially and cause a welcome diversion.
Anyway, crawl closer unnoticed and climb up in his hand. Maybe have to wait for them to get away from Grizwald first. We can morse-code our proposal to blood him preemptively and inform him we're on the case.
Twyll 17th May 2018, 12:34 AM edit delete reply
At this point, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. We can blood him and then un-blood him later, now that we've got some ideas on how to accomplish that.
Loki 17th May 2018, 12:21 AM edit delete reply
If we can get some natural gas in the tunnels at about 10% concentration, we can detonate it with a spark from a lighter or road flare. It’ll shoot fire out the exits of the tunnel system, but mostly won’t hurt anyone not in the tunnels. The things in the tunnels on the other hand, are gonna get squished from the pressure wave. Something like this:

If there aren’t natural gas lines around, we could probably make a bunch in the red and portal it in. Just like a big fart.

Honestly, I feel like any suggestions towards blooding Griz is just jumping the gun at this juncture. If anything, we should finish scouting first before we actually spring into action. I want to make sure there's nothing that'll throw us for the loop on the upper floors.

Though, at the very least, I do agree with relaying the info to Jury.
Blue_Elite 17th May 2018, 1:35 AM edit delete reply
Agreed about jumping the gun. The moment, the VERY moment, Thale finds out Grizwald is blooded he's dead. Heck, he might already be Queen'd (we'll have to do the Patton Thale test when rescuing him; especially being sober should make it easy).
If we go that route, we'll have to be in position to barge in and rescue him immediately.
Guest 17th May 2018, 3:29 AM edit delete reply
How about growing fangs on our little bug and blooding these three zealots?
Blue_Elite 17th May 2018, 9:27 AM edit delete reply
One of them gets killed by Thale. Thale thinks this is the warehouse incident all over again and just kills Grizwald; skips waiting until Sunday and brings everyone in and devours them now.
I think the only reason Thale isn't just feeding the monster in secret is he's trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone: feed his monster to make it unstoppable AND kill the one threat to it at the same time.
Which is why we pretty much have to deal with the monster at the same time as we save Grizwald. We kill the monster, Thale no longer has any reason to keep Grizwald as bait and kills him. We save Grizwald, Thale no longer has any reason to wait for the event which was the entire purpose of the trap and just feeds the monster.
Blue_Elite 17th May 2018, 1:59 AM edit delete reply
Alright, finding a nice hiding spot around here would be good for transferring back to our blood bug egg in the hallway. This is a good place to return to to keep tabs on Grizwald and possibly communicate with him if they ever leave him alone.

We still want to scout around for any more surprises when we do the rescue. Bottom levels are out for a rescue attempt (monster, likely boobytrapped floor, etc.) so I say work our way up. I have no idea how we'd pull it off, but if we can enter the place stealthily from the top that might be our best bet (if we don't just charge headon).

If/when we contact Jury on the matter, we should bring up the monster in the tunnels. A kidnapping/abduction is definitely going to be a city/police matter Jury will have zero authority in. If she can tell us how the monster might get the feds involved, that might be our next best step for a smokescreen/distraction (we've got at least a full day for preparations).

I don't have any immediate ideas for dealing with the monster but I did think of a contingency plan. Taking a page out of Dr. Deaglan Camp's book, if we can get a meat golems into the monster when it devours everyone else and have it cut itself into the esophagus before it hits the stomach, we could then try and start portaling our blood through the meat golem into the monster via the techniques we're trying on ourself. From there we'd act as a cancer and try to bring the monster down from the inside-out.

Grizwald's not about to be queened, and that's the only occasion where he was okay with being blooded. Let's not violate that, sets a bad precedent.

Instead... with our little blood bug...

Put our new generating-blood-significantly-boosted powers to the test.

1. Make a large blood portal on our side on the floor. Also fill jar with blood.
2. Pop blood bug to create small portal on its side, sending signal as it does so, so we can track through the red.
3. Push blood through blood bug portal, widening it.
4. Drop down portal through other, guns blazing, smash jar to create exit portal taking Grizwald and eveyrone else (yes, even Mr. Preacher man and guards) with us.
5. Once pulled through back to Z55, restrain them, and question (see if queened or not, and decide what to do with them).
6. Self-destruct blood portals, rendering them useless.

Done properly, the whole thing should take maybe 20 seconds (not to mention likely freaking out Thale to no end, because that's a trick that requires red).

It blitzes, avoids the guards, gets (and respects) Grizwald, gets everyone out, and dodges the monster. Baddabing, baddaboom, that's all she wrote.

I mean, if we ignore the fact where traveling through the red would be pa-retty fuckin' bad for everyone else's psyches...

I still wouldn't put my faith in that idea, honestly. Like, sure, it sounds solid on paper, but I feel like even with as brief a window of time as 20 seconds for an estimate that still leaves a pretty good chance of something going horribly wrong.

I say we see if we can convert some material to our bug to make a mosquito-like stinger and inject the bug into Hope but leave him be, so he does not suspect it.

I also think we should try to replicate the effects of poison and see if we can’t make a blood-squito to poison the tunnel monster out of the blood-no-longer-in-Clyde.

If all goes well, Hope could embarass himself Sunday and people will take him less seriously.
fellow 17th May 2018, 4:38 AM edit delete reply
Let's not blood grizwald. I don't think we can extract him from this place right now even if he is blooded.

If we wanna bust this place we may wanna shut off the power to deal with the cameras. If we can lay an egg inside whatever power closet they have we could retrieve the bug, make the bug bigger with extra blood, and then pull something out of the egg that's big enough to shut down the power.

We may also want to enter this situation with some kind of smoke bomb or preferably a flashbang(since guards could still shoot the smoke). We don't want too many guns pointed at us at the same time. Maybe the deck could hook us up with some. They don't make lab meat that can't be blinded, right? Maybe we should check that with michelle and finch.

If we could make some kind of squid monster out of blood and have it lay an egg, we could launch the egg at the stage and use the monster to both incapitate anyone near grizwald, and shield grizwald from anyone who might try to take him out just so we can't have him. The benefits are twofold.

We might be able to take out the monster by using an odin'd imprint of someone. Edison could straight up disable your brain and paralize you, and presumably someone whose imprint undergoes the experiment could do so as well. But this'd only work if the beefed up imprint stays beefed up after it returns to the body and is later let out.

In general, a needle/bug golem hybrid would be useful.

I don't know if we can blood him at the moment, but maybe blooding Hope is our best bet, and have him order everyone to go after our distraction in the tunnels? Depends if Thale is paying attention or not.
Guest 17th May 2018, 9:06 AM edit delete reply
You know, that needle/bug idea gave me one. How about using our bug AS a needle and discreetly bleeding out a target without them noticing until it's too late? We don't need to kill with this, just leave them drained.

Eh. I stand by my earlier suggestion of our contacts getting us a hold of some shrapnel rounds and thermite.
Trade those with some standard ammo and some acid and we have either some real nasty ammunition that'll really burn deep through the monster or a volatile explosive to do the same.
Bare minimum, that monster is going to be a lot weaker after being hit with this.
Istyatur 17th May 2018, 8:58 AM edit delete reply
If we can get more material from the red (which we should be. If we need to get the right mental connection, the bug lays bug eggs which can connect to the red, so they can grow new bugs from the red) why not make a bunch of 'blooder bugs' with needles and blood sacks and blood everyone there.
pkrankow 17th May 2018, 10:27 AM edit delete reply
Practice compressing air into our red to allow it to cool so it becomes liquid nitrogen as we let it out. We are going to need a metric truckload to effectively freeze this monster, but a few sustained bursts would probably be handy.

Practice producing a flammable methane gas at will so we can produce a flame thrower. Kerosene or oil might also be nice. With Fuse this is a low volume required idea.

Make a new bug here so we can play with changing it and making it armored.

I have a horrible theory:

The monster might be a train.

Why would I make it walk as a insane Bio-cyber-engineer when it has to guard a fully operational metro system. Strap some railway locomotion on it and watch with popcorn as it just runs over your enemies at 88 mph with no way to just jump out of its way.

As a train it could slide around slowly to catch unsuspecting rats, it could go fast to imitate a METRO TRAIN. You know the ones we kept hearing, might have been Monster Train trying to kill everyone.

Hell it could look like a normal metro train until it folds open as some sort of horror transformer. Probably how Clyde got killed. Thought it was just some hooman thingie.

But that is just a theory. Let's hope it stays that way.

Bit delayed, but I think we should call the reporter lady, now that we've confirmed they have Grizwald captured.
