"The scientists then plugged our tubes into the machine," adds Faraday.
...Hm. Alright. So, to replicate Experiment Odin, you'd need to climb into one of the containment tubes, and have someone plug it into the machine, then start it up. You're... slightly concerned about what kind of effect that would have. On the other hand, you remember what the library said:
"i f y o u w e r e i n h e r
s i t u a t i o n i t h i n k y o u
c o u l d p u l l y o u r s e l f
t o g e t h e r ."
Did it mean Faraday's...? If you took it a step further--overcharging to Incident F levels, and distributing yourself through the bunker--would you be able to return...? Just on will power?
So as far as I can understand, Faraday can't occupy the same space as something on the same, er, plane of existence (for lack of a better term) than herself. By becoming like Faraday, Jane could potentially *force* Faraday into a smaller form by squeezing her into one, like Caius's theory, and have her learn to stick to that new, smaller mode. And if the library meant you could follow this up by folding back into our normal size self without losing our form like Faraday did, then...
I don't know if I'm just spouting words, and it's most certainly risky, but it does seem like it could feasibly be a solution here... 'ㅅ';
FOLDING!
I think you just said the magic words! If will is the key, which makes sense with ghosts, then we don't need to force anything on her.
Let's try discussing the differences in what we're experiencing right now with both of the ghost, then go talk to both Mama and Jane Red. J-Red can read us directly and may have a better grip on what questions to ask about folding as a compression effect on 3D space (possibly 4D or 5D, we might be missing a clue right there). When we have the conversation to a point than Jane (our Jane) can understand, we go back and talk to Faraday again, talk her through it!
We don't even need to teach her how to do the same, we occupy the same space and squeeze her into the shape she needs, and then squeeze ourselves down once we're done getting her to where she should be.
Oh....
Oh my...
It just dawned on me... folding is almost the opposite of stretching thin and going deep. If one could be seen as extending oneself outward to maximum potential, folding in could be seen (kind of like a katana) could be seen as gaining the refinement and power of 'stretching thin', but folding back prevents from stretching out, so benefit without the risk, but instead of being just a blanket effect on the benefit, it's refined and honed... precise.
I mentally head-canon dub this idea... project Katana.
Edit: Oh... and double-oh-my... being in spirit form, this specifically enhances the -human- aspect of Jane (as it was pointed out the Red didn't do it). As far as "vessels to hold body" though, although Jane's body is 'small', it's attached to the red which is a LOT of room to fit in, and Red can also adapt the body as needed, so, if anyone could, we should be able to fit back in our body no problem. It may even make working with the red easier as both the alien and human self will cross boundaries instead of the red being the only boundary-crosser (but we'll need to fold regularly as we enhance the spirit half to keep it from getting out of hand.)
Or at least practice in a lower risk setting. Essentially, the ritual and project Odin do the same thing, except that the ritual is weaker and temporary.
You know, experiment Odin sounds a lot like the imprint-strengthening ritual... just more powerful, presumably because it uses SCIENCE instead of magic. The capitals make all the difference.
Therefore, us imprint-boosting, then 'spreading out' then coming back together into an interact-able form (like now) might be a better idea for us instead of Odining ourselves. Still could have unforeseen negatives, of course.
And I would bet that no less than a quarter of what Zone 50 did was FOR SCIENCE!
Because SCIENCE! As opposed to well thought out repeatable experimentation to prove or disprove a well formulated hypothesis with peer review...Oh yea there was no peer review ever, just results.
Now that I know what the process involves, I'm having second thoughts. I think we've done good enough for now and should return to our body; find out just how bad chaining 2 projections is.
We can talk it over with Dr. Finch and wait until we're physically back-in-shape before attempting a process that may keep us from going back into ourself physically for a prolonged time.
On that note, I think we're going to be useless for the rest of the day at this point. If we've got anything left replacing bone armour or working on Elizabeth would be priority. Otherwise just chill until we can sleep (we may be tired enough to just sleep the rest of the day anyway).
Going through Odin then supercharging turned Faraday into that crazy sustained energy source too.
If Jane, who already has her whole half-eldritch heritage and a dimension of red to tap into, gets access to that kind of immense electrical power... what would happen ?
Probably a question worth asking the Tradesmen, assuming they know. Alternatively, an experiment leading to knowledge they'd be interested in.
I dunno. The Library thinks we can pull ourselves out of Faraday's exact situation. Repeating the exact process to put ourselves into that situation is risky.
The Library said that we would be able to pull ourselves together. But never said anything about returning to our body. Only about pulling ourselves together in a simple point, a ghost body, like what we want to do with Faraday XD.
As long as Red stays with our body in the spell circle I forsee no problems returning to our body. If Red, or anyone else, moves our body without harming it I see few problems with returning to it. Red already stated she did not like "driving" so she will let us back in.
She's the mean side of whoever the girl was when she was alive, stored as a ghostly imprint, experimented upon, empowered through SCIENCE, enraged by the (apparent) loss of another facet of herself, and gone all murdery to deal with it.
Not too hard to understand, really.
wait...
take her can and put it in the room with tesla(but first asking tesla to Make sure the Edison would go on a murdering rampage) Releaser her form the can, and be careful with what we do.
this could work.

Yes, I'm fully aware I'm a nutter...I vote to do it!

Let's not go and try that, alright?

This idea also sounds like what the Library suggested.

Caution is required, but we can proceed.
I bet we get new abilities from all this.
I wonder if Jane can create diffeent outfits for Telsa after imprint strengthening. It would be similar to giving Red a fresh outfit.
We might be able to find out whats wrong with that girl.
