While the others prepare tacos, you evaluate how tired you are.

The answer is... very.

Even compared to what Caius described, you feel very worn out. You're not sure if it's his physiology giving him more endurance, or if it's the fact that you "strengthened" your ghost form for so long... but you definitely feel out of it.

While eating lunch, you all go over the next step.

"We should restock our medical supplies while we have a moment to breathe," suggests Dr. Finch, "likely buying bandages in excess so that we can trade them up further."

"For real," Michelle comments, "those reinforced bandages were holdin' Carpenter's robot at bay. I mean, just the legs, but still... geez."

"Computer parts would be good, too," Fuse mentions. "I can slap together some crappy computers and trade them up for something better. Me and Dr. Finch can go on a shopping trip while you guys work on other stuff."

"What else is there to do?," Caius asks. "We're kinda stuck 'til we figure tha Faraday thing out."

"Phones," Michelle states with a nod to herself. "We got some burner phones, right? We could trade 'em up, see if we can get one that... I dunno, works in Bunker A. I dunno if we got enough phones to pull that off, though, y'all might need to pick some up while you're out."

"Oh, we still gotta get tha hummer back, too," Caius points out.

Fuse breathes out slowly. "...Yeah. We might save that for... not today. We're supposed to be chill today, and that's... probably not gonna be very chill."

Which leaves you, and Bunker E. You still need to try astral projecting there, and see if you can learn anything new from doing so. On the other hand... you are quite spent. You think you could still pull it off, as long as nothing crazy happens.

Could we feasibly take a nap, a.k.a. a one hour short rest? XD;

You know what yeah, that's a good idea. They can all hash that out, we gotta regain our spell slots.

This sounds like a good idea.

Yes, if the others can setup the astral projection ritual in Bunker E, we'll do it after a short rest.

While Fuse and Finch buys Computers, Cellphones, and Medical Supplies, Let's make new Bone Armors (After all, our old ones are... In pieces in the best case XD). This time, asking Michelle for suggestions in the design. Even if she approves what we do, I think they are going to end better if she actively Works in the design.
After that, we can work in Liz, or Maybe create mosquitoe golems (Yes, I really want to make them XD), or atleast the most similar things we can make and trade them for a good one.
And... Maybe we can send Mini-Jane to play with the Ghost Girls XD.
Blue_Elite 29th Apr 2018, 11:07 PM edit delete reply
I'm not a fan of making monsters. The idea is to avoid being Thale, not copy him.

The meat golems we make are a matter of practicality and limited experience. If we could easily make Mini-Janes ourselves, I'd be all for that.
Reiko Lupus 29th Apr 2018, 11:13 PM edit delete reply
But the Mini-Jane was an accident.
How we got her?
We put a bunch of Meat-Golems in the Circle to see what happened.
Was everyone expecting to get a Mini-Jane?
No, I bet almost everyone was expecting a giant Monster of Meat XD.
And before that, we were using spider-bandages. This can also be considered a Monster if we want to see it like that.
The Golem-Mosquitoes are the same. They are a species of Monster if we want to see at them like that, but they exist for a practical end: Injecting our Blood in difficult targets. And even espionage and stalking.
And if the simply act of making monsters is a problem... We broke that taboo already when we put a bunch of golems made of flesh in a ritual Circle expecting to get something powerfull XD.

go over the idea of astral projecting in bunker E with everyone

and have everyone who might not be needed in bunker E go get supplies for upgrade ritual

The delicious, taco-y goodness should give us just enough strength to pull off one more astral projection.

Things to pay attention to specifically:
-If physical fatigue transfers to ghost form (good to know if we can tell how bad chaining projections is).
-If it feels any different when, "entering," Faraday.
-Easier/harder/no difference to strengthen form while inside.
-If we can maintain it long enough to meet Tesla (and she doesn't object now), how ghost hugs feel.
-How we physically feel after having done a second projection nearly in a row (once we've returned to our body).

That should be enough for today. I'm assuming we'll be completely physically exhausted and pretty much useless. If we have any mental fortitude left, we can work on Elizabeth. Otherwise I'm thinking using Mini-Jane and playing with her using our stuffed cat and penguin.

Also, if we want something structural, why not get duct tape (or some suitably soakable structural material) instead of bandages? or test if the tradesmenTM bandages actually have better healing properties so we're not just wasting them as tentacles.

Michelle and Caius could start clearing space for an area in Illworth to trade-up a car in the meantime. A little demolition is always good fun.

edit: actually, they might be able to do that really fast if they use the Nil ritual on, say, a dilapidated house. Assuming that the last time we used it didn't traumatize them.

I mean, it should be a lot safer if they aren't actively wrestling something into the sphere of annihilation, right?

I'm thinking Nil magic has more consequences than we're aware of. Maybe not instant or local consequences, but consequences non the less.
Archon 30th Apr 2018, 6:29 AM edit delete reply
It... should be safe enough, as long as we take our time and make sure to keep all limbs outside the circle.
Would rather clear some space via non-magic means however. Rituals, as the utter obliteration of one machine and substantial damage to several limbs can attest, are perhaps, something to be reserved for necessity. Particularly Nil's ritual.

Also remember governments are actively trying to squelch magic for some reason (Maybe a good reason? Who knows? Maybe we should ask the tradesmen? My guess is either keeping power for themselves, or the side-effects of some particular spell?)

If we go making ritual circles that can be seen by satellite... we might have a problem. (At least before we've blooded all the doors and are making that ritual circle on mars.)

I would like to suggest something a bit twisted here. Ask J-Red if she would be willing to try the astral thing. We would definitely be able to compare notes directly. She might also sense things differently, providing more information.

I kinda doubt her ability to do it, what with there not being a whole lot of breathing space or writing surfaces in her pocket dimension.

It'd be like what Jane did before, only the blood would stand up as a ghost, and the brain would say "It sucks". Still the same person really, just the other half of said person.

With Mama-Red having repeatedly said we are treading new ground, many new and different ideas are worth consideration. We may not have the raw power she does, but we can go about things in new and unconventional manors. Without a little experimentation, we'll never learn what our full abilities truly are. That doesn't mean toss safety out the window. Finch will always be a handy guide for how to go about a safe test with the scientific method.

At the very least we need to talk to our Red about this, astraAL projection, and how she is.
Prard 30th Apr 2018, 3:23 AM edit delete reply
Definitely seems like a useful work around that could be useful to know about. I would say put a pin in that as what to do after Dr Finch returns from shopping.
Archon 30th Apr 2018, 6:38 AM edit delete reply
Something to the effect should be doable.
Earlier in the church of enyo, wasn't Jane separated from Red for a short time?
If we can manage to procure Red a vessel, say through wholesale creation/uptrading bioprinted limbs, we could try using that in the ritual.

Practice moving mass, to ourselves, to MJ, between MJ and ourself.

Pockets in the red to hold stuff.
Briggs 30th Apr 2018, 8:46 AM edit delete reply
Ya know now that i think about it, since the blood is part of her she could make a small pool of her blood and try to pull things out of the red through said pool.

That's basically how Jane teleported back to her room way back when.
