Morgenstern
You take a deep breath.

When this all first started, you portaled yourself into your red. You sank into your blood, bringing your whole body into--

--that's what happened, right?

You were sort of maybe dead at the time. Technically.

Your brain shouldn't remember that, then, but that's what you recalled on cleantex.

...Which affects the brain.

Hmm.

You can only pull materials through your body. You normally can't take things out of, or put things into, or even manipulate free range blood. ...But you have at least once pulled yourself through free range blood.

You're not even sure how you did it, at the time. It was instinctual. Accidental.

But clearly, you can do it.

You're thinking too hard about this.

You need to just... do it.

Instead of portaling your entire body through a pool of blood, you're just going to portal the optic nerve of one eye into itself. Just a little. Just a tiiiny amount.

You actually stretch the cord out a little more, just to try and keep it a bit further from your brain. Just in case.

Just a portal in the optic nerve. That will result in one end of it still in your body, the middle running through the red, and the other end seemingly detached. It should work.

It should work.

Another deep breath.

Just... a small... portal.

Real slow. Carefully.

Whoops.

It's fine.

You're fine.

You feel fine.

You can still breathe.

How can you still breathe?

It's your red.

You can make whatever you want.

You're making oxygen.

But not on purpose.

Stop thinking about it.

You pull the... portal back.

Shrink it.

To... just the thickness of your optic nerve.

You catch your eye as it falls out of your head.

You can still see out of it.

It works.

You look up, and realize that everyone is staring, wide eyed, terrified.

You confirm that you are okay, and the eye thing works. It's like having a weird camera that... happens to be your eyeball.

Fuse's voice is very quiet. "When we tell Michelle what happened," he says, "we are leaving this part out."

"Deal," says Caius, almost as hushed.

"S-so, so so so," stutters Dr. Finch, "robot. What, well, we need bandages, yes? Yes. Do we feel the need for... any other..." He stops, and clears his throat. "Should we take any other precautions? Is there anything else we want to take care of, or shall we dive right into crafting an automaton and exploring Bunker E?"

I know this is a little ambitious, but what if we made a complete golem out of our red? Just a tiny handful of hollow bones filled with blood and joined by some sturdy cartridge, and we could get our eye a nice exoskeleton.

OH ALSO YEAH, LET'S JUST CUT ALL THOSE PAIN RECEPTORS FROM OUR DETATCHED EYE REAL QUICK. Because we are HOLDING IT. IN OUR HANDS.

I may be misremembering my biology, but I don't believe the eye actually has any.

I believe the inside doesn't, but the outside does. The latter part I'm more sure of, as I'm basing it on lightly touching my eyeball just now. Although, to be specific, it didn't hurt right away, and I've done it before without it hurting, but I think my finger was allowing surface tension to dry out the surface of my eye, as the moisture went to the ridges and valleys of my fingerprint.

Maybe some counselling for the 3 poor guys who probably just watched us turn our head inside-out.

And then, yeah, into bunker E!

Let's apologize for traumatizing everybody, then set about doing... whatever it is we're going to do to turn our eye into a mobile camera.

Anyone feel like making a flesh golem? I think we should try to make a flesh golem. Not necessarily fully flesh if partially flesh would be easier.

Would love to.
Course, would need a big container not to make a mess of the place in the process.

A flesh golem would be pretty excellent. We can stick our eye in it so it can carry it around!

Yes! This! Doesn't have to be complex, just a little exoskeleton buddy for our eyeball! We could call it Cyclops c:

I sure am glad we did not see what Caius, Fuse, and Dr. Finch have seen. It was probably unpleasant.

I was actually pretty disappointed on that account. But I won't be suggesting we do that again while watching through someone else, (when I catch up,) because that may well induce a certain amount of panic, at a time when panicking would be a really, really bad thing.

We should ask the others what they just saw. It would be good to know what it looks like from their perspective. Especially if we have to do it in front of Michelle..
Seems the mood is for a golem. Let's try to make it as little horrific as possible.
