Morgenstern
You turn around and begin to leave.

You don't choose to, you just do.

When you start to panic at the sensation of being controlled, she lets you stop. You feel yourself start to calm, but it's quick, forced, like the way you calmed Dr. Finch during the shootout at his home.

You start to ask, but you don't even know what to begin with--how, or what, or why.

She tells you that she's not a Red, or a hallucination, or anything like that. She's you, she's just... you in a place you're not supposed to be, like an echo or a shadow. She can overpower you because your power is the same--she just wants you to leave more strongly than you want to be here.

Conviction--desire--they matter. Love, the will to live, the urge to protect someone... it's not just the quantity of blood. All things equal, need is power. The amount of blood in the body and whether it's genuine or bio printed is important, but that difference can be overcome if you desire it enough.

Whatever drives you needs to be stronger than the hatred you're up against.

But for now, she knows you shouldn't be here... that it's dangerous for you to be here, and that far outweighs your curiosity. You are forced out the door.

You tell Caius to come back up, you get Michelle to help you re-sort the bunker door, and the two of you leave Bunker D.

Wow.

That's... a pretty important thing to learn. Our will has the power to negate the technical difference. Adversely, so can the will of our adversary. We need to have an iron-clad desire to overcome whatever we come against. Good thing Jane is pretty much made out of love, love is pretty powerful.

Also, whatever just happened, I guess we've just learnt one thing: there's more to our reality than just the one we're experiencing.

Now that we're out of Bunker D, we should reconvene back in Bunker A and see how far Dr. Finch and Fuse have managed to go with their StQ breakdown and supplier sourcing? Maybe pop into Bunker B to bring back the broken android pieces so we can start piecing them together if they're still at it? Go get some food?

...Yeah, that's, like. Possibly one of most useful things the our other self could've said to us. And while love is a powerful emotion, it can become so much more depending on what it's tempered with. Like, say... the desire to protect those you care about. Or that added little spark of righteous fury to strike back against those that threaten the ones you love. Mind... I'm wondering if it should be the only emotion to focus on. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of repressed anger, given half the shit Jane's been put through. Or at least some form of pure, concentrated essence of, like... her just being done with Thale's shit, buried deep inside. Seriously, she's an absolute sweetheart, and I won't really feel, well... much of anything for anyone dumb enough to slam their face into the proverbial bear trap like Prophet did over a hundred pages back.

...My rambling aside, ah. This does make me wonder if the willpower thing extends to more than just our ability to exert control over someone. I mean, I wouldn't doubt if it did, but it's one of those things I really want to learn more about. It's just... absolutely fascinating.

Anyways, on a more immediately relevant note... Yeah, I'm thinkin' we get the broken android pieces and bring 'em back so we can get to work on piecin' them together, or at the very least, have 'em back in a convenient spot for whenever we actually start to work on that project. Either way, I'm definitely all for reconvening at Bunker A regardless.

Agreed that if after all that it's lunchtime to get some lunchy-munchies. :3
Maybe quickly consult with Fuse/Finch about the wiring while we're out so we can see about getting that fixed asap.
Also throwing in a vote to helping to make that 2.5 androids figure a 3 if we can help it.

Rufi's right. The audience of this comic is Jane's thought process. Literally. The author interprets, and can exert influence through the rest of the world, but we are Jane Doe. If we're conflicted, divided, Thale wins. For all we know, he slowly won over each family member until StQ blurred the lines, until THALE as a family was no different than Thale the individual. For all we know, they are in unanimous agreement.

And we're not.

Godammit this is a time loop.

We'll end up being that other Jane later.

sorry to burst you'r bobble but it can't by a time loop for a couple reason
1. if it were a time loop we would by back at the vent room
2. lets say it brought us to a different bunker at a
different bunker but why would they name a bunker error backwards
if it is a time loop it must by an alternate dimension/universe which just makes it a bigger problem

Ya, going to agree that IF it is timey-whimey shenanigans, there's more spacial/alternative-reality aspects to it as well.

We already have portals, and instantaneous travel from Earth to Mars. Earth and Mars are 182 lightseconds apart. Since we're not sitting around wondering what happened for three minutes each time we step through, that means wormholes and time travel. We've been engaging in time travel since the moment we stepped foot on mars.
Baeronius 25th Oct 2017, 6:27 PM edit delete reply
Baeronius
Well, technically it's not time travel if the propagation is in line with the physical space.
Conservation of matter.

There would be a violation of spacetime if one had to press through the intermediary space with such a time constraint, but if one did not press directly through the space, but instead pressed around it, the spacetime would be conserved, as the cone of influence would not be violated, neither would mass, or positional velocity.

But that's just a theory...
A lame theory.

Oookaaayyy... That was weird. Can we ask our Red what the hell that was about, if she has any ideas?

Moving on: we'll definitely need to go back to the fuse boxes later to fix those wires. Maybe we can ask the others if any of them know something about how to go about it.
No opinions on the plant-room so far. Let's discuss it with the rest first before making any conclusions.

Fixing live wires under ongoing overload isn't very hard as long as you have the right gear:
- wear protection (thick insulating gloves, clothes, shoes and goggles)
- grab a length of new cable of the right section so it actually helps
- strip its ends, strip the faulty cable (protection matters here) at the right spots to connect the new one
- twist the new cable along the exposed sections of the old one
- you can even leave the old cable where it is unless it's too damaged to work at all
- spray insulating paint over the new junctions and fried parts of the old cable

A few minutes are enough.

I definitely agree we should ask our Red if she has any idea what that was about. Also mom's Red, when it finishes growing to here. We should also ask if there are any other things that they know of that can...reinforce our blood powers beyond quantity and quality of the blood.

And yes, I agree with everyone else that we need to fix those bad wires. We don'y know where they go but there are exactly zero places in this bunker that look good to just let be depowered.

I wonder... if we all unite and choose the same thing, all at once, with no interfearane, would this make our abilities stronger? What is it that determines the force of our will?

I would absolutely LOVE if we end up using a Spirit Bomb of some kind to defeat Thale.

I agree we should get those wires fixed ASAP. Fuse should be able to do it, he knows electronics, and high power systems are very similar, just with more power.
I think we should definitely check out the room with the scary plants, but I don't want to put anyone in danger, so I vote we send Willard (the rat).
He should also be small enough to get out of the way, if there is trouble

Thoughts about who we just met/ what just happened..
Looking at her injuries, she wasn't actually us, but mayby an us from a parallel universe.. however, the fact that she is in a mirror error room, suggest is connected to our universe, or we just walked into hers.
Would love to exchange stories and information with her, but it might be collapse-the-universe dangerous..
We should keep the possibility of sending something that way through the door in mind though, it might be useful later.

I wonder if that error-room felt anything like the error-room we and Fuze encountered in Macland's mind.
Steve 25th Oct 2017, 1:57 PM edit delete reply
In any case, for now, I think it's a safe bet, that all the doors would do this if we tried this again.

We should finish the things we've been doing, and as soon as possible, return to Bunker A, and then, tell everyone what happened. They need to know.

Completely unrelated to what we're currently doing, but...

The blood allows us to sense the health and well being of our allies, and can project images onto our consciousness (such as seeing red when she's not physically there). I wonder if we can blood in a functional HUD, see people's well being as healthbars and such.
Crestlinger 25th Oct 2017, 7:30 PM edit delete reply
So fifth dimensional shift is in the minus world of bunker D behind the sealed door, three other doors remain, likely with enaJ going Nope behind each. Which then begs the question, based on bloodstains, if that was a parallel based on wrong choices, like her going further in in the viney door instead of Caius going through the other one.
As things stand dye, tie a ribbon on, or otherwise alter the flower currently residing as a hairpiece so we have made a choice to set us apart from s'enaJ appearance, then go though another warp door Carefully, Bunker A may be safest, if she shows up again with the same alteration or not will be telling.
Planar manipulation aside, get in touch with Jury and determine if she has any basic self blueprints, schematics or such that could be useful in the repairs of the other androids.
Blue_Elite 25th Oct 2017, 11:41 PM edit delete reply
I'm really of the opinion we should hold off on exploring the the minus worlds of the portal doors until we have more abilities/are stronger. Otherwise we'll probably just walk into a series of situations we have absolutely zero ability to handle and may end up getting ourselves maimed/killed.

We've got our plate full as is anyway: We've got the drug cartel (I'm calling it that anyway) to keep investigating, an android to piece together, that plant door to sample/explore, and investigate Rows' house/Howler's apartment just to name a few.

Yeah it's like grizwald said kind of, no mentions this ever, but if someone has more of our blood than we do, than they can control us, since you and other you have the same amount of blood than it's a battle of will, I'd definitely try and be much stronger friends with The Finch, as he is currently the guy with the most of our blood other than ourselves, and we don't really want him taking control of ourselves unwillingly
