You give yourself a cleantex effect to try and remember the last voice.

It was the one Macland was talking to, when he first began to utter the name TH. You now know the voice is Patton Thale's secretary.

Wherever Grizwald is, he's listening to a conversation between Gesenai Shirai, Macland Row's bodyguard, and Patton Thale's secretary.

You also find Dr. Finch, and ask to borrow a piece of paper. You write down all the names and phone numbers you saw in Prophet's phone. You now have Prophet's numbers.

You also consider retrieving the rat from your house so it can help explore this bunker, though you'd need to decide who all is going to pick up the rat.

Frankly, it'd be safer and easier to just buy more rats. If Finch wants to set up a new lab, it seems like he needs them for his research anyway.

There isn't much we can do for Grizwald at the moment anyway. We could presumably shake the vial of blood to buzz out a morsecode message if we wanted him to hear us. If we can perceive voices, then we could probably perceive him shaking the vial to message back, assuming he knows morse. However, we may not know enough about his situation yet to justify the risk of revealing the blood vial.

Our best bet is to set up our base as quickly as we can and be prepared to move if Grizwald winds up in a better position to communicate/inject himself.

Caius, Jane and Finch go pick up the rat in the truck, and maybe swing by Finch's place after confirming no surveillance and pick up what's salvageable. Fuse can keep working on the door, etc. with Michelle.

agreed, but we should check the place out with our spare bird first just to be safe.
AlphaDragon 1st Oct 2017, 7:55 PM edit delete reply
This sounds like a good plan, but before we go can we double check and make sure Jury's number is not in the phone... look by number to not just name?

...It's not paranoia if they are actually out to get you...

Could we have the bird bring the rat? or would we have to worry about the bird eating it. also, when was the last time our animals ate?
Cuttlefish 1st Oct 2017, 8:42 PM edit delete reply
I don't think we'd have the control to manage a rat's instinct to flee from a bird while preventing the bird from attacking the rat. I think trying to airlift a rat would be a messy mistake!

We can also guess that lady secretary is also queened up.

we knew that already. patton thale was speaking through her on the phone to macland after we ambushed him at elegance.
Steve 1st Oct 2017, 6:35 PM edit delete reply
we didn't know for sure. we don't even know for sure if Thale is puppet master, or puppet himself. also, i only half remembered that event, so sure.

Couldn't we have a raven bring the rat?
Guest 1st Oct 2017, 8:42 PM edit delete reply
I suppose it'd be a thing of 'can we tell the raven to bring the rat and NOT eat it AND tell the rat to stay calm at the same time', since idk if Jane's ever had practice controlling two animals at once?

If Thale's Printed Blood is linked through 4 people, two animals should be easy enough for someone with actual Blood. However, it will take practice. We might mess up bad.

But that's translating human thought to other human thought, rats and ravens don't have the same capacity for rational thought and are more instinctually driven.

Can we get a map of the city? I want to see the layout of everything. As well as the history of this world and how the government works.

Morgenstern
With the city being both huge and stacked vertically, I wouldn't even begin to know how to make a map of it.

History's mostly vague on purpose, to keep up the anachronistic "modern, but also the future, but some stuff is old?" swing. The world is like our world except when it's not

Government is like the US government in theory, just taken to dystopian capitalist nightmare extremes. Cities have more power than states, which have more power than the federal government. There's a president, but they're vestigial at this point--most laws are made by individual mayors and city councils, which are manipulated heavily by corporations.

Almost everything is privatized. If you can't pay the fire department, they'll let your house burn down. Police are either hired on a crime-by-crime basis or they're contracted out--so a company might contract cops to protect a few city blocks around their headquarters, etc. Some police departments are under contract to the city council.

This is also a big part of why the lower tiers are a circus--nobody can afford the police. With no market for police work, police stop setting up shop down there at all. Combine that with pollution, lack of representation and everything else going on down there, and it becomes crime town.

Everything's technically a democracy. Technically. It's just a lot easier to vote in the higher tiers than the lower tiers.
Steve 1st Oct 2017, 10:44 PM edit delete reply
I'd say, just say which things are on which tier. maybe if they are close to or far from things on the same/similar tiers

so... uh, 1.5 D?

i think rufi and i can probably manage to get a "locations" page set up on the fan page with info on common places we've been or seen. i'll see if i can't get something going tomorrow.
Baeronius 1st Oct 2017, 9:37 PM edit delete reply
Baeronius
I dunno. It could be a lot of work. Most of the locations are story-driven and not positional driven.

The only place we know of within walking distance of another is the Corrupted Hospital and Jane's house. But as to what direction they are from each other? All unknown.

(edit: Doh my post got Morged while I was writing and re-writing my response xP)

Here's a quick reference I cobbled together - it's as accurate as I can get it based on the updates we've seen and on a comment or two MM has thrown in the comments themselves.

Mochi has a placeholder in the fan page and we'll both work on that :D

EDIT: Mochi reminded me where the Secret Bunker is and I realise I forgot to add the motels in there too, so added them in. -v-)/
