Morgenstern
You send a message to Fuse, letting him know the name of the hospital and asking him to look into it. You suspect that Gesenai has her hands on it in some fashion or another.

You take a deep breath. You can perceive via people, and you've manipulated microscopic actions inside a body, but perceiving inside a body is a relatively new trick.

You begin attempting to perceive the inside of Dr. Finch's body.

It takes you a little while. A tracer would have to be fairly small, and between the lung and throat surgery there's plenty of places to hide it...

but after a brief period of Caius idly driving the car around, you find it.

There's an incredibly tiny device buried in Dr. Finch's chest--almost more of a container, really, backing up Dr. Finch's theory about a possible chemical signature being used to avoid detection. It's not all that far beneath the surface of his skin--it would take a decent cut, but it could be removed without any sort of truly invasive surgery. It would require taking a scalpel to Dr. Finch's chest, however, and carefully--breaking the thing and leaking the chemical into Dr. Finch could cause more problems than it solves.

You explain what you found to Dr. Finch. He nods, nervously adjusting his glasses. "Sometimes I... rather wish I could be wrong. Where are we going to go to remove it?"

His house? It's probably safer there than any random location, or we could go to a hospital... for a lot of money and time.

Also we still haven't told him about our adventures in hospital land and the death and blood stolage of the prophet, shortstack, teal hood, nimrod, and umbrella corp monster. And Carpenter.
Aside... if prophet has radioactive blood, we're getting a pretty healthy (no) dose of radiation right now. Unless it's alpha/beta radiation, in which case we're good.

Go to his house. Nobody's going to be suspicious of a man going back to his own home.

finch’s house. we want to avoid suspicion. finch has been through an ordeal. a normal person with nothing to hide who doesn’t know they’re being traced would just go home. so, we go to his house, take it out, and leave it there. or we can give the feds a big middle finger by giving it to one of our birds with instructions to fly around for a while then drop it somewhere.

We've already been ambushed so many times, though... Even if the "feds" don't intend to ambush us, and expect Finch to go home, there might be *other* folks who intend to ambush us there-- perhaps some of Shirai's. Knox (am I remembering his name right? scarface guard) saw Finch leave, after all, and Macland's people might also be Shirai's people.

Can we... eject it, somehow? Basically manipulate the body's ability to push things out of itself by gradually growing new cells under it and letting the ones over it die off, and just accelerate that? If it's not far under the skin, we might be able to manage that much with the powers we've already developed. And we can do that while in the vehicle, and just leave the thing by the side of the road somewhere.

It would be good practice for working on Michelle's longevity later, too.

Alternatively, we just cut him open in the car and use our blood to sanitize everything and kill off anything that gets into his system via the cut. He's got enough of our blood in him that we might even be able to do it without him really bleeding much-- since the blood is still *inside* him, we can still control it, and we just have the blood stay inside him and not come out with the knife.

that’s a good point. unless they’ve like… completely sealed his incisions we should be able to eject it. think… like a migrating eyebrow piercing. eventually the body healing and generating new cells behind the site will push the piercing out. then it’d just be a matter of plucking it out.

It could also be anchored in, which would prevent natural ejection and prevent easy extraction.
Better have a better look at it. Measure twice, cut once.

Can't we shove it in our red or something. We just need blood and there's a lot inside Finch.
Kitty 24th Sep 2017, 3:52 PM edit delete reply
Ooh, that's not a bad idea. "Here, Red, have a new toy."

Blood-portaling something so small might be easier than blood-portaling ourselves, and I'm sure sticking the tracker in another dimension would make it rather difficult to track. (Of course, there's a risk that they *can* track something through the red, but if that's the case then we're probably boned already anyways.) Then we can bleed somewhere random, pop it out there, clean up the blood, and leave it.

Oooor, it could be a very-bad idea.

For instance, if it was printed STQ, or WORSE... a sample of the alien Blood.

If it's just a chemical or low-end radioactive marker, then it would be safe... but we have to know whats inside to use that.
Kitty 24th Sep 2017, 5:57 PM edit delete reply
I think a sample of the alien blood would be FAR too precious to stick into some random doctor. And even if they had done such a thing, I can only imagine it would already be attacking Finch; the sheer rage that the aliens have for one another would never let it just sit there inside a capsule right next to a guy full of some other alien's blood.

If it's STQ, Red can handle that no problem. Some shitty knockoff of blood like ours won't pose any threat to the true red.

Hm... Going to the lab is dangerous, but there's equipment there and we might be able to pick up some stuff (after checking it hasn't been bugged as well, along with the whole place).
The car definitely isn't an option, but we might be able to rent a room at a motel for as long as it takes to remove it.
As for actually removing it, I'm not worried: Jane's a nurse, and she can even synch with Finch if she needs to.

So I'd say rent a motel room, unless we lack something needed for the operation such as a scalpel. We can potentially come back to his house to take stuff at a safer time after checking it with one of the ravens or the rat.

I think we should talk over our options on what to do about the tracer. Whether it's to go to Finch's house and operate to get it removed (and if the chemicals are spilt into the body we can neutralize them with our blood), use Bloodportation or go somewhere non-descript and then do the surgery.

To the arcade! That'll get them head scratchin.

I feel a bit worried about what might be waiting in Dr. Finch's apartment. I don't trust anything anymoreeee XDD

I'll put a vote in for parking the car somewhere relatively empty (that's not the motel or the house) and doing it right there in the backseat. We have a painkilling effect, we have our first aid kit (scalpel and sutures and disinfectant and possibly oral painkillers too) plus the ability to clot blood and slow bleeding. If it's not that far under the skin let's just deal with it here and then when it's out, throw the tracker into Dr. Finch's house so they think he's home. Caius could keep a lookout while we do it.

I'm good with parking the car, but but but... Can we drive around a parking garage a bit then to the park? That way it takes them a bit to sort out where we went.

Does Finch have any old doctor friends he could drop in on for a surprise friendly visit/secret surgery? If we are doing it by hand we'll need equipment, and I doubt the Feds have monitoring on all know associate's known associates.
