Fuse finally puts his gun away. "You alright?"

You stop the bleeding, first. You sync with Dr. Finch, as his knowledge of human anatomy is probably better than yours. You start telling the body to mend its damaged nerves. Grow tissue. Repair broken blood vessels. Fill in the chipped bone. It's not enough to just to command the body to do this, though--it's not like making someone walk, or telling the brain to ignore pain receptors. You start pulling material from the red. You start forcing your body to heal faster than it's normally able to.

The bone starts to grow more than you intended.

Nerves begin to crawl into places they don't belong.

Your chest tightens as tissue swells and distorts.

You can feel tiny hands trying to claw their way out.

You taste blood in your mouth.

Teeth form in your shoulder wound. It refuses to close. It tries to speak, but it doesn't have vocal cords. Not yet.

Fuse puts a hand on your good shoulder, and hands you a lit level. "Calm down. You panic, you mess up, and then you panic because you messed up. It spirals out of control. Just... take a minute."

You start to smoke the level, and breathe.

"Measure twice, cut once. Or... like a bandaid, I guess. Know what you're going to do, but don't take too long doing it. Just... go. Just make it happen. Don't try to be careful, just try to be sure. It's the difference between burning my arm and exploding my whole body. It's not a guarantee, but..."

You try to stay calm. You try to heed his advice.

You start putting things back into place. It's more painful to do it abruptly--suddenly--but it seems to get better results than trying to slowly guide everything back into order a step at a time. By the time you're done, you've smoked the entire level... and fixed your shoulder. The skin in that area has a weird texture to it, and is a little bulkier in places than it should be. When you move your arm, there's a... slight, uncomfortable grinding sensation. But it works, and you're not wounded anymore.

Incidentally, your hearing is back, though everything sounds a little... off, somehow.

You can now regenerate. Kind of.

You might have accidentally putting hearing organs in your torso somewhere.

welp, that went better than expected. we can deal with our hearing later, get it fixed properly when we're not in a life or death situation. give fuse a hug. thank him for all his help, for everything. take a minute to recenter and get our bearings again. tell michelle we're fine, and check on caius again and make sure he's still good.

then, i say we play it safe and go into the vents. ignore the door. if we have to come back to it, we will. oh, but put out the axeman and see what he had on him that isn't burned. and take his axe.

Nice work. Check your pulse.
Make a mental note to get your upper torso scanned once you're out of this mess.

Thank Fuse, Dr. Finch and Red (in no particular order).
Finish exploring the room (slowly), grab the extinguisher and the axe.

If the welding mask is intact clean it off and take it as well. Incidentally we now have a crispy body for that chair idea presented earlier which would also double as a way to confirm that this one really Is dead and not playing possum.

Better idea: leave and quickly. The enemy knows where we are right now, so if we want to avoid another confrontation, it would be best to skedaddle.

After this event, we're going to be SO PARANOID. I guess that's a good thing, but yeah, maybe we shouldn't open doors until we know for sure there isn't an axe-wielding murderer in there, just in case. (The fact I can say this with literal meaning just makes me go 'MM what have you done :'D')

I guess if there aren't any other nasty surprises in this room, we can update our team real quick on how we're doing (and thank them for letting us just sync up so darn quickly without question - they saved our lives), and proceed cautiously through the vent. Might as well get out of here like everyone's saying, since welding-mask-guy was very likely hive-minding at the time so THey know where we are. (see what I did there hurr hurr)

And Fuse's actions touch me :') he usually freaks out a lot, but he really took the helm here to get us to calm down. Even though seeing what that shoulder was growing into was probably scary, he overcame it without smoking level on his own. ;v;* (As a side-note, @MM, just to check - running while on level is bad for the heart, but once we're done smoking it, does the effect completely wear off and make it okay to hustle again?)

So yeah, thank Fuse. <3 Appreciate the fella. XD
