As Michelle turns to talk to the blonde cop, you start to reach for Michelle's gun.

Wait, why?

You didn't

Your fingers wrap around the handle of her pistol. You pull it from its holster. Michelle has good reflexes--superhuman, even--but you had the jump on her. She trusted you.

Why are you doing this? You don't want to do this.

Michelle's large, so you have to side step just a hair to get a bead on the blonde girl. Everything feels like it's moving in slow motion. Michelle is turning, but your finger is already on the trigger. Why? You don't even know this girl. Even if you do shoot her, Michelle's going to murder you immediately after. What are you trying to accomplish? You didn't want to do this. It feels like a maelstrom in your brain.

You've never killed a person before.

But you're perfectly calm.

You're confused, but you're not in a panic. The stress is gone. It's like you're not even there.

If you wanted to kill her, you could have just used your pyrokinesis. Why are you shooting her?

You feel Michelle's hand as it reaches your face. You start to squeeze the trigger. In all the commotion, the suddenness of it, you hadn't caught what the blonde was doing. As you press the barrel of the gun against her stomach, you feel the sting of a needle in the side of your neck. Did she grab it from the trashcan? The sink? There's needles everywhere.

What did she inject you with?

You drop the gun.

What did

you

we

He drops the gun. He gasps, Michelle taking a firm hold of his head. She could snap his neck in an instant, but you tell her not to. You can "feel" him, now--the abrupt rush of fear and bewilderment. He doesn't know what's going on. Michelle slowly lets him go, reaching down to pick her gun back up.

"What the HELL was that?," she asks, still standing VERY close to Fuse.

"I... I don't know. I didn't... that wasn't me. I don't know what just happened." Fuse almost collapses against the kitchen wall, heaving, sweating. "What did... what did you inject me with?"

You look at Michelle, who looks back at you... and then to Fuse. "Her blood." You can't see Fuse's eyes behind his visor, but the rest of his face says plenty. Michelle continues explaining. "Her blood can, uh... control people. Though, it looks like somebody might've beat her to it this time."

Whatever took over Fuse was overridden by your blood control. You didn't force him to drop the gun--he did it on his own as soon your power took effect.

You've not yet encountered anything else that can control people, but Fuse's reaction to being "freed" leads you to believe him. Something inside him tried to kill you.

You can now give commands to yourself, Dr. Finch, or Fuse.

... Well, fuck. SaveTheQueen IS a fucking hivemind drug. Though it's users probably don't notice it till a couple more doses in than Fuse here. Good thing he only did it once. Likely by the time they notice they are too deep in to care.

Well, time to ransack the place for answers.

Also, taking cleantex then Queen probably accelerates the indoctrination of the drug user into the hivemind's control. Something along the lines of making easier connections in the brain allowing whatever controlling force connected to Queen to entrench itself deeper in the user's mind.

Oh and judging by Fuse's reactions even though he only used the damn thing once, All Queen users probably want to kill Jane here. Regardless of it being of their own will or not.

..... How many users were on those forums again? It's probably time to check the numbercount. Odds are we've got at least that many people to be careful of now. Those forums don't feel like the kind where people would make duplicate accounts on.

... Finch's expertise is medical, right? maybe he can figure out something if he got a sample of Queen to run some tests... well we'll probably have to get him some equipment to do those tests but He'll likely be able to figure out just what that shit is.

Also, save the queen's the only connection between the oddities I can see here, and you gotta admit, it's rather unlikely that this hunch of mine's off. Well, unless there's some other unknown factor here that can link Fuse's odd behavior just now to Howler's ever increasing pile of secrets.

Ok, time to brainstorm.

First, the symbol - it's a cross with a spiral shape on top. Cross reminds me of the red cross, which is blood-related. The shape looks like a siphon, so it's about draining blood. Jane was pinned through to heart to it.
Someone's raising an army to hunt her down. Again.
And this time you can't just shoot them to hell without serious consequences.

Second, if Jane feels like remembering terribly useless moments of her youth (or anything that happened since she died), have Fuse teach you proper use of cleantex. What could go wrong ?

As an aside, thanks for the nice plot and impressive update rate !

Oh right yeah, cleantex. Yeah that'll probably clear up some of that amnesia like memory loss.

That actually a good idea for the second. we only know she died and we know that this thing help her remember stuff but don't forget to help her breath

If Queen's responsible... It might be that it's similar, but far weaker than Jane's Blood in effect, with some other stuff mixed in to keep users in the dark. Take a dose, go wild, Do Someone's Bidding, pass out, and not remember. The Cleantex might've been a way for whoever was controlling Howler to help him remember how to hack. Or worse... LEARN.
