You attempt to do something--anything--with Clyde's remains.

However, your blood is no longer... inside of anything, and there's not enough of your blood there to do much manual portaling from.

You discuss with the others what to do about getting that thing out of the tunnels.

"We could just go kick its ass," Caius says, still wearing his bone armor.

Fuse chuckles dryly. "That's your answer for everything, though."

Michelle grins. "He might be onto somethin' this time. In a confined space like those tunnels, it don't really matter how big the bastard is. It's gotta come to us a tunnel width at a time, while we're mowin' it down in a barrage o' bullets and fire."

"That's it if doesn't collapse the tunnel," Elizabeth points out.

Dr. Finch nods, adjusting his glasses. "And Thale may be very well inclined to do precisely that. He has much more to gain killing us than he does to lose exposing himself. I have to think he's beyond concerning over collateral damage at this stage in the fight."

Michelle nods more solemnly. "Yeah, that's a good point. Those tunnels don't mean jack to him anymore. If that thing's big enough to bring the roof down on us..."

"That said," Fuse starts, "all those guards in the church could make it bigger. Not as big as its alternate universe version that ate a packed congregation, but... yeah. Dealing with it underground might be safer than dealing with it in the church, if we can find a way to do that."

"We could just try baitin' it away," Michelle offers. "I dunno how, Thale ain't that dumb. It ain't gonna leave the church alone to chase rats."

"If it is prompted to go scorched earth, in a manner of speaking," Dr. Finch states, "having it do so away from the church would also be preferable. Remember, Grizwald is still likely inside--if the entire church is brought down on that monster's head, Grizwald could be caught in the destruction."

There's a brief pause before Caius speaks up again. "Whaddya guys think's up with tha vents?"

"Well," says Fuse, "Hope had to have set that up after me and Lydia broke in. ...So whatever it is, it's built to stop people, not just rats. Gas, maybe."

"That'd be dumb," Michelle says bluntly. "I mean, they're vents. You'd be gassin' yourself. Mighta rigged 'em up to be electrified or somethin'."

Caius chuckles. "We're paranoid 'cuz o' Bunker X now... we're gonna think everything's electrified."

Could we have a rat bring a 'robot' (non-red!) golem within range? Maybe make this one out of something that won't be harmed by any currents that may or may not be there.

Sure, it could be discovered, but at this point I think we'll have to start taking a few risks.
Swagner 16th May 2018, 7:19 PM edit delete reply
We could pre-empt Thale by collapsing the tunnel ourselves. Rig the tunnel (away from anything sensitive) to blow, then use Jane as bait; blood-portalling out after luring the monster into range.
Frission 16th May 2018, 9:08 PM edit delete reply
Very true. We could try investing in some C-4 (or the 'modern' equivalent of that world) and build some controlled explosives. Lure it toward them, and *boom!*

Or just buy some grenades. Perhaps incendiary, white phosphorous ones or thermite? No explosion involved with those, so a thermite grenade/bomb would do extreme damage to the monster without collapsing the tunnels.

What if we made a big monster to fight it? Or a crud ton of little ones?
unddeadDreamer 16th May 2018, 7:26 PM edit delete reply
Oh maybe we could make something that could blood it.

We could see if the Tradesmen have any info on "the monster's most easily-exploitable weakness," but... it probably wouldn't come cheap considering it would tip the power balance considerably. And there's no guarantee that anyone's provided THEM this information to begin with.

We could see if Judy can do anything about this, or if Hope's on the government's person-of-interest radar. (Doubt that they'd be interested in "the church kidnapped a hobo," though, so we need something stronger than Griz's disappearance to motivate them.)

We're a little short on resources among our allies. Are there any ENEMIES that can be put to use...?
Two come to mind, though perhaps they could be the same faction: Carpenter and The Many.
I can't think of any compelling way to persuade Carpenter to help us against this, though-- Carpenter would probably rather hold off his sudden-but-inevitable betrayal for something higher-stakes than a simple publicity stunt like this one.
The Many, though, might be convinced. It wanted to seize Jane's mind(s) due to her superior mental networking capability, but if we decided to tell it that Thale's going to be amassing a lot of juicy hijackable networked brains in one place on Sunday... ... ... we'd still be up a creek because we have no idea where it is, how to get in contact with it, and how to safely transport it if it can't move about on its own-- especially if it would need to be "rescued" from its current location.

Wonder if Jury and her team have managed to extract any information from the hackers she captured-- if it might lead back to Carpenter... or a hackable, hijackable war machine.
pkrankow 16th May 2018, 10:43 PM edit delete reply
I can imagine something, but it would involve a massive hack with a convincing false trail sent to the church...

Microwave, easy to setup in a steel box like a vent and allow air to pass. Just need a metal screen of the correct size to filter out the signal. Probably proves hell on the active radio microphones, so it would be off durring events.

All that dirty high power radio would cause headaches, tissue damage and more eventually, yet a small enough critter like a bug may pass unharmed by staying in the signal minimums.

Raw electric would be like an electric fence, bare wire pairs pulled through the ducts, and the assumption the outside is also used. More likely it is only trapped at key locations. A livestock power supply can render a human unconscious. They tend to be high voltage, low amperage, ac power.

Gas could also be used. With some sliding gates or other means of closing off areas it would not affect the whole building much. There are a number of low odor or odorless gasses that cause unconciousness at different concentrations. Nitrogen or carbon dioxide would displace the oxygen causing unconciousness quickly, but take several minutes to fully kill.

With cameras it would be easy to locate and gas a person, without killing. The electric fence at key points smaller animals would be excluded or killed.

Yes, those vents could be hell.

Even some cameras and a guy with a tranq gun...

Check the maps, can we dump something down the sewer onto this monster? I bet some liquid nitrogen will really ruin somebody's day. Just go steal a truck and pour it into the right spot and have Jury clean up gor us.

Can Jane MAKE liquified gasses?
PurpleKetchup 16th May 2018, 7:43 PM edit delete reply
If she portals in a gas bubble, maybe she can exert enough pressure in the red to liquefy it, then portal it out (but then it will boil away instantly).
Not sure freezing will work - the monster is huge, and freezing will affect its core last. Thale can just turn that into a super-flesh bomb at the last moment and ruin everything.

.... I'm all out of good ideas. Go down there, pour red to lure it away from under the church and try to assert control over a part of the tunnels so they don't collapse ?
pkrankow 16th May 2018, 10:54 PM edit delete reply
It wouldn't boil away instantly. The heat energy would be removed in the Red so the volume of compressed liquid at near room temperature would instantly start taking heat from where it was placed due to tbe boiling energy that was removed in the Red. The temperature would drop to the boiling point at local pressure, which is about 1 atmosphere and really really cold

This would mean a substantial volume of liquid nitrogen would be needed.

My memory is foggy. What's Thale's end goal with this demonstration?
Gigafreak 16th May 2018, 8:28 PM edit delete reply
Hope'll announce that he'll be "exorcising" Griz, to get our attention.
Hope expects us to show up on Sunday to rescue Griz, at which point the monster pops out and kills us all.

Current objective is to find a way to rescue Griz safely. The monster is blocking the most viable entry and extraction point-- and if we somehow managed to rescue Griz without dealing with the monster, it'd only grow bigger and stronger for the next encounter (by eating the congregation... and then who knows what else in the days following). Destroying the monster now is not technically mission-critical, but would be helpful for reducing future risk. (That said, it might also cause Thale to flip out and kill Griz off immediately.)
Blue_Elite 16th May 2018, 8:37 PM edit delete reply
"Yeah," says the error-Fuse. "S'a trap, too. Whole... congregation... will all be Thale's dudes. Big monster... busts out of th-the floor... eats the live audience. Gets bigger... fills the church... crushed me under it."

We don't know the end goal specifically but killing us and/or feeding the monster a whole buncha meat are the more immediate ones. We don't know what he plans to do with the meat Kaiju once he makes his monster grow. Presumably he keeps feeding it to the point of being unstoppable and then claims to be a god or takes over the world or something.
Blue_Elite 16th May 2018, 8:25 PM edit delete reply
For now, we should get back to the blood bug and keep searching for Grizwald. Preventing him from getting killed (by monster, bullet, Queening, etc.) is still a key part to this whole operation and we need to know where he is before we can do anything.

If we can see the center stage from the ceiling, just crawling up there would probably be good enough. Otherwise slowly, carefully, move in closer until it can be determined if Grizwald is on stage or not.
If he's not, we should move back and continue to search in a downward direction. Now that we've confirmed the monster is in the tunnels, I'm fairly certain Grizwald would be kept on the lower levels where escape can only lead to either the monster or mooks beating him up/shooting him (or us).

As much as I want to make a bio-abomination of our own... it'd be best if we finished up flesh bug recon first, yes.

Just keep carefully making our way down to see if Grizwald is there. And, if we want to be thorough, perhaps we could just schlorp our way back to our checkpoint egg afterwards, then check upstairs for any prospective bullshit they may have hidden up there.
Crestlinger 16th May 2018, 9:04 PM edit delete reply
-Get a feel for the entirety of the monster via rats, bugs, astral or at least an estimate
-Find out where Grizwald in being held (same ways, though astral projection might be best)
-Drop the sections of the church housing the majority of the monster mass
-Said dropped monster lands in a premade Nil Ring O Death (a Big one)
ReikoLupus 16th May 2018, 9:05 PM edit delete reply
We can't simply Blood it?

Transform the Blood inside the Rat into a small bug. Give that bug a mosquitoe-like needle, and when it injects the giant Monster, transfer Blood from your red in the Needle to Blood it with a decent amount of our Blood.

But before doing this, I would like to ask the Tradesmen if Thale already suspects that we are using Animals. I don't want to reveal it, but if he already suspects, then we can do it without fear XD.
Frission 16th May 2018, 9:10 PM edit delete reply
Remember what happened last time we tried to blood something Thale was exerting direct control over. Anything we hit will just slough off and become a bio-bomb.
ReikoLupus 16th May 2018, 9:32 PM edit delete reply
It depends. We aren't sure that he can see EVERYTHING that he has Blooded every moment all the time. And even if he pull of the part we Blood, with the Blood we pullod out of our Red, we can create more Bugs and repeat the process, but with a swarm instead of a single Bug XD.

And even if he destroys the Bugs, they are our body, not a body of something we are taking control of. If ther are destroyed, we can liquidify and remake them as much as we want (Or as much as our willpower can XD).

...Damn, now that I think about it, our Meat Golems are Scary... Really Scary...
...WHY we aren't using them to Fight?
Fishbulb 16th May 2018, 9:13 PM edit delete reply
A distraction in the church might allow people to enter and grab Grizwald before anyone can react. At least, once we find Grizwald.
Frission 16th May 2018, 9:31 PM edit delete reply
We were discussing in chat that Michelle's gatling was a bit lackluster against the Floor 0 monsters, so we might want to bring something more to the table, as well. Which brought us to the conclusion that the reason for this is most likely the ammo—handgun rounds and all.

So! Let's do a trade-up with the tradesman, and throw a few cases of handgun ammo in the circle. See if we can get some more powerful ammunition for the gatling. SPACE AMMO!!! XD
ReikoLupus 16th May 2018, 9:40 PM edit delete reply
It has an easy solution.
You think all the bullets of the same caliber are the same?
Nop, there are Bullets that are ILLEGAL for being too much letal, cruel, and even inhuman, to be used against humans. Having them is a crime.
We simply need to buy this cute nightmares XD.
Frission 16th May 2018, 9:45 PM edit delete reply
Let's do that too. I still want to try for SPAAAACE AAAMMMOOOOO~ though. Maybe if we throw a few cases into a circle and trade them up, they'll give us an infinite gatling ammo clip! That shoots lasers! EXPLODING NEUROTOXIN LASERS! THAT BREATHE FIRE!!! x3
Blue_Elite 16th May 2018, 10:03 PM edit delete reply
You know, if we just want a one-shot dealie for dealing with this monster, we could make a whole bunch of bio/bone-bombs and trade them up like we did the meat golems.
It won't make Bunker X floors any easier but it'd provide a more immediate solution to our current problem. Might even scare Thale into avoiding collapsing the church for fear of making the monster eat the bomb.
ReikoLupus 16th May 2018, 10:31 PM edit delete reply
We can also make Bullets with a Hollow tip where to put our Blood, or something like that XD. I remember hearing about Poisoned Bullets (Yes, if getting shot in the year 1900 wasn't enough, they even put Poison in the bullets XD), we can do the same but with Blood XD.
Ablaze 16th May 2018, 10:17 PM edit delete reply
What if you just set the building on fire? That should vacate everyone. And cancel the show from happening there later. Doesn't solve the monster, but might prevent it from growing
pkrankow 16th May 2018, 10:36 PM edit delete reply
Yes, but would they release or abandon hostages?
