Morgenstern
Once more waiting for the guards' paths to put their backs to your bug, you sneak glances at the framed picture and the papers stuck to the wall at either end of the room.

The framed picture is a painting of angels descending from Heaven to meet men. However, the angels... don't look like any angels you've seen in popular media. They have multiple wings, some of which cover their faces, and they have a great multitude of eyes covering their bodies.

The papers at the opposite end of the room are just advertisements for upcoming events of the church--like a week-long revival, and a blood drive.

You send your bug under the double doors on the left, into the sanctuary.

It's... massive. There's easily room for 5, maybe 10,000 people here. Cameras are set up all over the sanctuary... as are guards. There's guards everywhere.

At the very base of it all, at the bottom of row after row of stairs and pews, is a stage and a pulpit. Your small bug eyes can... faintly make out figures down there, but it's quite a distance.

You update everyone in the lab about what's going on, and what you've seen.

You suddenly feel your rat in the tunnels under the church die.

A blood drive? That can't be coincidence, make a mental note of that, it could be important. Also, keep looking for grizwald, obviously

Uh also, mention the rat thing. Oof gotta make sure I read everything first

Yeah, they're surely putting some Thale blood in as they collect their donation.
Gigafreak 16th May 2018, 12:07 AM edit delete reply
If it's happening before Sunday, it may very well be where the "Thale congregation" comes from. Though he probably has enough agents to fill the congregation already even if this isn't it...
PurpleKetchup 16th May 2018, 12:38 AM edit delete reply
Guess Jane could try tainting their pool with her red to cut that plan down.

Try te sense the situation in the place were your rat died. Don't try to make and eye of your Blood yet, if someone is there, it could make clear that we use rats if they see an eye popping from the corpse. But maybe we can listen from there if someone is talking.

Can we tell from the condition of the corpse how it died?

Try to see through the rat corpse's eyes, if they're still intact enough. I don't see how it's any different from seeing through the eyes of an abstract meat blob made of "the concept of biological material" given form.

Well, if we can see from them without making them move, it is a good idea.

It is a trick we have used before. Using an intact removed eye. In the school with Edison, p573

Encapsulate our blood and be prepared to either portal enough in to fight Thale, portal it out, or make another bug.

Check out how the rat died. Maybe we can do something with it.
Gigafreak 16th May 2018, 12:04 AM edit delete reply
Or find out what killed it and why. We do have a limited ability to perceive through inanimate and dead things. It could've been Thale's monster moving into position, or his lackeys escorting the monster and killing the rat as a precaution. (Or even his lackeys moving in to be mutated and BECOME the monster when it's time.) Worst case scenario would be Thale sensing "enemy Red" in the rat, revealing our animal surveillance trick.
Blue_Elite 15th May 2018, 9:52 PM edit delete reply
Get the bug to a safe place where it likely will not be crushed/killed and THEN check on the rat. We don't want to keep shifting perspective only to lose one agent after another. >_>

So I guess the tunnels aren't safe then. Probably should have expected as much. Entrance might be even worse and we know the vents are either poisonous or likely trapped. This is going to be much more difficult than anticipated.
Unless Jury has a plan for getting us in, figuring out how to do blood portaling might be our only option. Either find where Grizwald is or a good place for us to enter through a portal and rescue him. I would not put it past Thale to either Queen or just plain shoot Grizwald the moment he knows we're in the building.

With Grizwald rescued, hopefully we can then focus on taking down Thale's monster. From what not-Fuse described, if we don't stop that too we might have to deal with a flesh-Kaiju if we let Sunday's events happen. At least we can reasonably assume the monster is going to be either in the lower part of Hope's place or just straight in the tunnels (perhaps that's what killed the rat, we should have done a blood alarm...).
chaosblitz 15th May 2018, 10:24 PM edit delete reply
seconding all of this, also maybe try to bury the rat's body later if we can (much, much later. It sounds cruel but we don't exactly have time for morning right now)

I had proposed Clyde the page before the raven (Allen) and rat were sent. Since no one else suggested sending a rat/raven and the raven that was named was the one sent, I'm assuming it was Clyde that was sent.
I'm now starting to question naming the rats after ghosts. ;>_>

EDIT: Incidentally, I just had a very crazy idea. If we can use the ghost/imprint strengthening ritual to summon a ghost rat, capture that ghost rat with the ghost gun, then use Project Odin to make it a "real" ghost rat, if we could then just blood the thing we'd have ghost scouts. Just spitballin' that idea.
PurpleKetchup 16th May 2018, 2:44 PM edit delete reply
Even after Odin-isation, a ghost's body is still not quite tangible. I don't think we could blood ghosty Clyde.
Bringing it back to life (and to the bunker) after checking there are no witnesses around, though, I'm all for that.

You are right we cannot have a collapse of our network because we lost an expendable unit. Hide the bug first.

FYI- those Angels are the Seraphim, those closest to god. They have six wings, and one set covers their eyes, so as not to be blinded by god's brilliance.

Whether that's a clue or just an unusual choice for Christian iconography, I don't know.
PurpleKetchup 16th May 2018, 12:37 AM edit delete reply
The "eyes everywhere" variation also exists (book of revelations, iirc).

Hmm

See how the rat died. If it's one of those snap traps, leave it. Though if it's something the guards won't notice went off, let's transform the rat (disgusting as that may sound) and move the mass somewhere they won't find it, so as to not cue them in to us sending rodents everywhere as scouts.

Other than that.. See if we can dissolve the smollem (smol golem) into a puddle of blood and move some extra mass through a blood portal to leave "eggs" throughout the place.

Maybe form a more complex eye and float it down to the stage to get a better look? Maybe not, though.
Gigafreak 15th May 2018, 11:56 PM edit delete reply
We can move and convert the tissue of living creatures. Dead creatures are basically the same as inanimate objects to the Red's powers, I think. We can fiddle with the little golem because it's made of Red; we can fiddle with our allies' bodies while they are alive; I don't think we can do the same for the rat now that it's dead.

Maybe we should've set a blood alarm for something happening to the rat.
Blue_Elite 16th May 2018, 2:50 AM edit delete reply
Hidesight unfortunately (should of set it for something spooking the rat, my guess is Thale's monster attacked/ate it). We (commenters AND Jane) were too distracted by the new blood bug abilities we've just developed.

If I may offer another unusual suggestion: recall that we can use other allies as additional processors. Instead of syncing, grant command.

What I mean is try giving control of something we've blooded to one of our generals. It would be a good way to increase what we can do with this skill. We'd be guiding (commanding's the wrong word) more than one at a time. Granting control of the blood bug might be difficult because of what it is, but our strongest general, Finch, could easily diagnose the now dead rat. If we send a replacement, he would be able to guide it instead of just hoping it's okay.

Addendum:
I say Finch is our strongest general because of what we know about blood quantity and it's relation to control. (Still a theory, but this might test that anyway.) Finch has more red in him than anyone else besides Jane herself.

Hmm, you know if we're going in loud it'd probably be useful to barricade this door, seeing as there's lots of guards here. Maybe if we had a big container of blood at the ready, sprayed the door with blood and then converted the blood to bullet proof bone.
1977 16th May 2018, 4:58 AM edit delete reply
Instead of trying to spray it with blood we could as well try the new ritual of summoning armor on it.

The person getting the armor needs to say some words if I recall correctly. We likely can't make the door talk.

Revive the rat. Unless he's completely destroyed, you might be able to reform and resuscitate him. Having such a skill practiced could help us long term.

This is a "yes but..." kind of situation. The idea presented, and the materials too.

I agree having witnesses to a dead rat reviving would be very bad.

We need to sense through the rat to see its cause of death! And that blood drive is way too suspicious. What day is it going to happen?
