Fuse fires a few handgun rounds into the monster's eyes. Michelle and Caius also fire shots into its various... organ... sac... things.

No movement.

You fire one more needle at it. This one hits, and sticks. Your blood goes in--and you confirm, the creature is dead.

You all sit, and wait, and catch your breath as the mist dissipates from around the monster.

You mentally manipulate the organic mass inside the dead eye, slowly forcing the cybernetic implant out of it. Once the pink vapor is gone from the air, and the implant hits the floor, you go and pick it up. You acquire a laser-eye implant, uncomfortably damp.

"I keep waitin' for it to spring back up and keep tryin' to kill us," Caius says.

"Seriously," Fuse comments. "Was that anti-climactic, or am I crazy?"

"Y'all are crazy," replies Michelle. "We wore ourselves out, I ran outta bullets, we almost got crushed to death. This is floor zero. Ain't nobody gotta come back from the dead just yet, alright? This was fine. Not losin' any limbs or nothin' is an acceptable level o' difficulty."

"I bet tha chest is a trap," Caius says after a pause.

Fuse points at Caius. "This. We're not technically out yet."

Michelle sighs, shaking her head and smiling wearily. "Damn, guys. Ain't nobody happy unless we leave on a stretcher."

Are those sodas drinkable? 'cause if so, we need a soda break XD

Time to open that chest maybe? Hope Caius and Fuse are being overly paranoid about that. :P I'm with Michelle on this one!
Gigafreak 11th May 2018, 10:30 PM edit delete reply
So we can have a golem open the chest, juuuust in case.
Blue_Elite 11th May 2018, 10:35 PM edit delete reply
I wanted a golem to open the Cat Magazine to make sure it doesn't explode or summon the assas-hands we've yet to encounter. We can then use that to test the chest to make sure nothing drops on it.

THEN we can open the chest.
Leafia_Barrett 11th May 2018, 10:29 PM edit delete reply
I... guess Michelle's right? I really hope Michelle's right. Once everybody's rested, carefully open the chest and, provided the universe has a sense of humor, claim our well-earned prize.

Make a mental note to examine the laser eye's internal workings before leaving, see if we can figure out something on how it works. Maybe it'll help us make use of the implant somehow.

It'd be nice on Jane, she needs a weapon that doesn't bleed her out.
AgentKuga 12th May 2018, 6:36 PM edit delete reply
yeah true
Akasha 11th May 2018, 10:29 PM edit delete reply
Well, once everyone catches their breath, go 'an open the chest. Make sure to be on the look out for hands.
ReikoLupus 11th May 2018, 10:32 PM edit delete reply
Let's try to see how this one was able to shoot electric discharges of his eyes XD. If there are enough eye to see it... That's WHY I simply wanted to Blood it, instead of destroyin it's eyes. To see how they shoot thunders XD.

For now, make a small Golem and send it to the pink gas. Let's see how dangerous this thing is.
Ah, and go back and take with us the body of a spider. I bet Finch is going to want one. After all, this things have acid instead of Blood. Even I'm curious about how this things were alive XD.
Guest 11th May 2018, 10:37 PM edit delete reply
remember to get any other useful monster tissue samples. We want our little golems to grow up to be monstrosities like this someday.

In particular, I want some of that bullet-proof bone.
Espylacopa 11th May 2018, 11:45 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, if we can learn to recreate this stuff, that'd be awesome.
Crestlinger 11th May 2018, 10:39 PM edit delete reply
Potential Other loot: eye's implant, monster's lightning stalks, acid spider body, Vertibro's bone whip as a model for red creations (handle the last two carefully). Loot chest carefully, have a golem open the cat magazine near the acid walls then leave and figure out how much time has passed. Rest, recover, check in on all, play with the new shinies, then rescue Grizwald.
Blue_Elite 11th May 2018, 10:40 PM edit delete reply
Claim old cola cans as loot. They might be a collector's item (and we need funds for bullets).

So prize speculation time? If it's the strata-, strate-, if it's Michelle's old gun the chest is probably deeper than it appears.
Other possible items:
Actual Flamethrower
Limited Edition Cat Magazine
Empty (The real prize being the friendships we made along the way)
Turns out it's a Mimic :P

EDIT: Side note - ask the statue if we can perform Tradesmen rituals during the challenges (and magic in general JUST to be sure).
Marshmallow 12th May 2018, 3:16 PM edit delete reply
Just incase if it is a mimic shoot it a bunch of times.
undeadDreamer 11th May 2018, 10:58 PM edit delete reply
Can we figure out how the electricity eyes worked? Also send a golem to open the chest.

I guess we should have asked for clarification on recognizing the reward. We've learned a lot already, and the next floor will give us information regarding the learning/difficulty curve. As for this floors treasure, gods wouldn't bet an item that wasn't worth the effort spent. If they did, we wouldn't come back and that defeats the purpose.

Satisfaction is relative.
Limited Cat Mag, might be a side bonus...
Flamethrower better be unlimited ammo or something. (We have one called Fuse)
Stratamire would be nice, but probably locked behind a harder boss.
Pet mimic?
Hambone 12th May 2018, 12:45 AM edit delete reply
Get a vial of blood or something, and be ready to huck it inside the chest to blood it. A pet mimic would be fucking awesome
Blue_Elite 12th May 2018, 5:03 AM edit delete reply
If it acted like a dog and barked, I'd fall in love with it. :3
Hambone 12th May 2018, 2:43 PM edit delete reply
Ye gods, I can just see the mimic tongue waggling like a dopey golden retriever's.
fellow 12th May 2018, 4:26 AM edit delete reply
I don't suppose we can make another golem to open the chest for us?
pkrankow 12th May 2018, 6:10 AM edit delete reply
The chest is likely not trapped. It is the last thing prior to the exit making it the reward. (Good mice)

Further reasons are:
We have never encountered anything like a mimic.
The Tradesmen are sorta on our side, or at least act like they are rooting for us.

The chest is safe. Use a golem to open it if we must, but it won't be any more exciting than a spring hinge.

Loot what there is to loot since we likely cannot return to floor 0 after leaving.

If we can return it probably is populated again... then again it might be best to ask. Loot what can be looted.

Are vending machine controlls on the PJ list? Maybe I just want to break into machines...
fellow 12th May 2018, 6:33 AM edit delete reply
Let's take the whole vending machines with us. At worst we can trade up the soda with the tradesmen. We may even be able to find more vending machines and trade those up.

Michelle might not like it, but we can also take the spider corpses with us so we can drain the acid from them later.

If every floor is going to have a chest, we can take the whole chest with us, and we'll be able to trade up the chests once we've done enough floors.

If there's leftover room in the elevator we could add the bookcase but that thing is very unlikely to be of any use. We might be able to use it to carry the spiders without having to touch them though.

If the floor is gonna be repopulated we could use it to get infinite brain monsters.
pkrankow 12th May 2018, 6:41 AM edit delete reply
I think each machine will take more than either Cauis or Michelle to haul out in one piece. Taking one machine would be doable.
fellow 12th May 2018, 6:44 AM edit delete reply
We may be able to load them into the elevator one at a time.

zelly_fangirl 12th May 2018, 12:32 PM edit delete reply

"You do not have to repeat any level; this elevator can take you to any floor you have earned access to."

To me this sounds like we can always come back to any cleared floor and it'll stay cleared.

Awesome! Thank you for the archive search zelly_fangirl
zelly_fangirl 12th May 2018, 6:04 PM edit delete reply
I'ma helper ^_^
Ablaze 12th May 2018, 7:16 AM edit delete reply
Before we leave, we should gather everything that might have some value.

For example, the spiders have acid blood, it might be useful to be able to make acid blood yourself or make body parts immune to it.
Guest 12th May 2018, 11:22 AM edit delete reply
Didn't the tradesmem offer her something for an eye. She wouldn't be able to grow an eye back so maybe she can use the implant and have a later eye....maybe it does more than just shoot this the thing that can save their butts in the fight against take?!
Guest 12th May 2018, 11:24 AM edit delete reply
Damn autocorrect!!! *Laser *thale
ReikoLupus 12th May 2018, 12:03 PM edit delete reply
Jane wouldn't be able to grow the eye back, but won't be able to replace it either.
pkrankow 12th May 2018, 12:22 PM edit delete reply
Anyways loosing body parts permanently is bad juju.
T41 12th May 2018, 12:30 PM edit delete reply
Loot some of that bulletproof bone so we can ananlize it later and hopefully learn to make it ourself. Take whatever prize is in the chest, it's probably not trapped but remain alert anyway. Get the fuck out of here, do not move on to the next floor.
PurpleKetchup 12th May 2018, 4:16 PM edit delete reply
Wait, the command is 'wake up', which doesn't fit anything we're doing. What exactly is going on ?
PurpleKetchup 12th May 2018, 4:17 PM edit delete reply
Gah, never mind. Keyboard rewinded the menu back to the 1st page command.
Blue_Elite 12th May 2018, 5:07 PM edit delete reply
"You wake up from the crazy dream you were having about blood-mind control schemes and having eldritch god powers. It certainly was an entertaining dream although it did kinda go off the rails towards the end (as most dreams do).
But anyway, it's looking like it's going to be a beautiful day and you don't want to be late for your job at the hospital. You take a quick shower, get dressed in your nurse's uniform and head towards the train to work.
The end."
Swagner 12th May 2018, 6:42 PM edit delete reply
That's horrible.

zelly_fangirl 12th May 2018, 6:09 PM edit delete reply
I think we should fetch a spider corpse and douse this thing in acid. Maybe try to craft a golem with some sort of respiration system to test the gas. If we can't do that, *we* could risk testing it. If it is harmful, we should at least be able to fix the damage to some extent.

Whatever we do, definitely send a golem to open the chest. Then loot the chest, grab some sodas on the way out, and GTFO.
Phyco 12th May 2018, 6:53 PM edit delete reply
The mist is already gone, isn't it?
